Senior Software Engineer, Fullstack

Echodyne Corp•Kirkland, WA

About The Position

Echodyne is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to help build its next-generation radar software platform for mission-critical security applications in defense and automotive. The role contributes to architecting robust software solutions and involves collaboration across engineering, product, and UX to ensure the technology performs in dynamic real-world environments. The position focuses on delivering asynchronous backend services, APIs, and real-time data and event models; partnering with front-end teams; advancing prototypes into production-quality services; and designing for resilience, security, and offline use. It also contributes to development quality and velocity through CI/CD, testing, observability, and instrumentation, while mentoring peers and incorporating product and field feedback.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of experience building customer-facing, production-grade software systems.
  • Modern full-stack expertise, including React or equivalent front ends and asynchronous backend services using Tokio/Rust or similar.
  • Strong experience with modular architectures, documented API contracts, and robust service lifecycles.
  • Experience designing for real-world constraints, such as field, defense, or automotive deployments, or similar high-stakes, performance-critical systems.
  • Hands-on experience with Python, Rust, and/or C/C++ for practical, scalable solutions.
  • Ability to collaborate with product, UX, and technical experts, with strong communication in cross-functional contexts.
  • Track record of mentoring peers and driving technical excellence without direct authority.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD practices, observability, and resilient system patterns.
  • B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver core platform components, including asynchronous backend services using Tokio/Rust, well-defined APIs, and real-time data and event models.
  • Partner with React and front-end teams to enable shared components, efficient state management, and system health visualizations.
  • Transform algorithms or domain logic into well-tested, high-performance endpoints with strong observability.
  • Architect for intermittent connectivity, graceful degradation, security hardening, and offline scenarios.
  • Refine CI/CD, improve performance and contract/property testing, and establish instrumentation and SLO/error budgets.
  • Mentor and influence colleagues through clear design narratives and code reviews.
  • Integrate product and field feedback into the development lifecycle.
