About The Position

Echodyne is seeking a software engineer to help build its next-generation radar software platform for mission-critical security in defense and automotive applications. The role involves architecting robust solutions, collaborating across engineering, product, and UX, and building technology that can operate in real-world, dynamic environments. The posting refers to the role as both Senior Software Engineer, Fullstack and Principal Software Engineer.

Requirements

  • 7+ years building customer-facing, production-grade software systems.
  • Modern full-stack expertise with React or equivalent front-end technologies and asynchronous backend services such as Tokio/Rust or similar.
  • Strong experience with modular architectures, documented API contracts, and robust service lifecycles.
  • Experience designing for real-world constraints, such as field, defense, or automotive deployments, or similar high-stakes, performance-critical systems.
  • Hands-on experience with Python and/or Rust and/or C/C++ for practical, scalable solutions.
  • Ability to collaborate with product, UX, and technical experts, with strong cross-functional communication.
  • Track record of mentoring peers and driving technical excellence without direct authority.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD practices, observability, and resilient system patterns.
  • B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience.
  • Must identify during the application process whether they are a U.S. citizen or green card holder, or have asylum/refugee status in the U.S., so Echodyne can evaluate eligibility to handle export-controlled information or obtain required government authorizations.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver core platform components, including asynchronous Tokio/Rust backend services, well-defined APIs, and real-time data and event models.
  • Partner with React/front-end teams to support shared components, efficient state management, and system health visualizations.
  • Advance prototypes to production by turning algorithms or domain logic into well-tested, high-performance endpoints with observability.
  • Architect for resilience, including intermittent connectivity, graceful degradation, security hardening, and offline scenarios.
  • Improve CI/CD and testing, including performance, contract, and property testing, and establish instrumentation and SLO/error budgets.
  • Mentor and influence through clear design narratives and code reviews, and incorporate product and field feedback into the development lifecycle.

Benefits

  • Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
  • Fully paid medical, dental, and vision insurance premiums for the employee.
  • Choice of PPO or HDHP/HSA.
  • Virtual care through 98Point6.
