The organization is seeking a Senior Software Engineer – Full Stack to join a new platform modernization team in NYC. The platform is a mission‑critical operations system deeply embedded in how internal teams and customers operate. This role leads the modernization of the platform’s technology stack — migrating core components to modern frameworks, retiring legacy patterns, and building the foundational services that will power the next generation of the platform. You will also build new core services and customer‑facing features on the modernized stack, contributing full‑stack depth to the AI‑driven portal and broader engineering initiatives. You will collaborate closely with senior architectural leadership and use AI‑assisted engineering tools as a core part of your workflow.

Requirements

  • Strong full‑stack engineering fundamentals and ability to work effectively with AI‑assisted tooling
  • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including production full‑stack applications
  • Proficiency in at least two modern programming languages; TypeScript/JavaScript (Node.js) preferred
  • Solid React + TypeScript experience building complex, data‑driven web applications
  • Production experience with modern backend frameworks (e.g., NestJS, FastAPI)
  • Hands‑on experience with microservices and event‑driven architectures, including Kafka and Redis
  • Relational database experience and ORM proficiency; familiarity with MSSQL is a plus
  • Experience with containerized deployment (Kubernetes, Docker) and CI/CD pipelines
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Ability to understand and modernize legacy systems
  • Proficiency with AI‑assisted development tools (Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor, etc.)
  • Strong communication skills for both technical and non‑technical audiences

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building AI‑powered or AI‑augmented features (chat interfaces, agent integrations, tool‑use surfaces, RAG patterns)
  • Workflow/orchestration engine experience (Temporal.io, Dagster)
  • Experience contributing to brownfield modernization efforts
  • Experience with data‑intensive applications (large‑scale pipelines, real‑time analytics, high‑throughput event processing)
  • Exposure to search/analytics infrastructure (Solr, OpenSearch, StarRocks, ClickHouse)
  • Domain experience in telecom, managed services, or B2B platforms
  • Cloud or Kubernetes certifications

Responsibilities

  • Drive modernization of the platform’s core components, transitioning to modern frameworks, removing legacy patterns, and establishing the architectural foundations for future development.
  • Partner with senior architects on major design decisions. Write ADRs, evaluate frameworks and infrastructure options, and contribute to platform‑wide architectural discussions.
  • Design, build, and ship new core services and customer‑facing features across backend, API, and data layers on the modernized stack.
  • Work flexibly across multiple engineering tracks, providing additional depth where needed. Ramp quickly in unfamiliar parts of the codebase.
  • Build and operate services on containerized infrastructure (Kubernetes on‑premise). Follow CI/CD, IaC, and deployment patterns established by the team.
  • Conduct code reviews, write maintainable and well‑tested code, uphold high engineering standards, and mentor junior and mid‑level engineers.
