About The Position

Blend is a premier AI services provider focused on co-creating impact through data science, AI, technology, and people. They are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their team. This is a hybrid role that involves both hands-on software development and internal developer enablement. The engineer will act as a force multiplier for engineering teams by reducing friction in the development lifecycle, providing clear guidance, and improving internal tooling. The role requires contributing to engineering initiatives as a full software developer, delivering production-quality features and services. It also involves providing internal developer support, guiding engineers on development environments and tooling, advising on internal tools and frameworks, identifying and automating friction points, partnering to embed AI know-how into coding tools, contributing to infrastructure-as-code, and helping teams with identity/security framework decisions.

Requirements

  • 5–6 years of professional software engineering experience, with strong fundamentals and the confidence to provide clear, opinionated guidance.
  • Strong proficiency in .NET , with the flexibility to work in languages outside their core stack when the work requires it.
  • Strong software design and architecture skills: able to structure solutions, weigh trade-offs, and explain the reasoning behind design decisions.
  • Strong focus on testing as part of the development workflow, not as an afterthought.
  • Demonstrated ability to act as an internal consultant: diagnose problems quickly, communicate trade-offs, and recommend solutions.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal), with a coaching/mentoring mindset.
  • Positive, collaborative attitude: open to feedback, comfortable being challenged, and willing to help others.
  • Proactive and independent: naturally seeks opportunities to improve, automate, and simplify.
  • Comfortable switching between deep technical work and developer support without losing momentum.
  • Excellent written and verbal English for clear and effective communication with the team.
  • At least 5+ years of experience in data engineering or similar roles.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to AWS architecture, but not required to be an AWS expert (dedicated architecture expertise exists within the team).

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to engineering initiatives as a full software developer, delivering production-quality features and services.
  • Write, review, test, and maintain clean, reliable, and scalable code following standard engineering workflows (PRs, code reviews, CI/testing).

  • Guide engineers on local development environment setup, Unix/Bash workflows, and day-to-day tooling usage.
  • Advise teams on internal tools and frameworks, clearly explaining technical trade-offs and recommending best paths forward.
  • Identify repetitive friction points and automate workflows through scripts, templates, and improved tooling.
  • Partner with the team to embed AI know-how into the company’s AI coding tools (e.g., Claude) and enable smarter developer experiences.
  • Contribute to infrastructure-as-code and internal platform efforts using Terraform, especially in AWS-based environments.
  • Help teams make identity/security framework decisions (e.g., Okta, Auth0) based on use case and organizational standards.
  • Operate effectively in ambiguous environments, establishing clarity where documentation or standards don’t yet exist.
