Google is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to work on Android System and Frameworks for Beam, an AI-first 3D video communication platform designed to make remote conversations feel natural and in-person. Beam combines AI volumetric video modeling, spatial audio, and light-field display technology. The team works on complex challenges involving real-time computing, machine perception, and hardware-software co-design. In this role, you will drive low-level platform architecture across the Android stack, bridging custom hardware with upper-layer system services. You will deliver low-latency, power-efficient, robust platform software across custom Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) interfaces, framework extensions, and runtime performance profiling, and own foundational software powering the Beam experience. Google software engineers develop technologies and products that serve users at massive scale. Engineers work on projects critical to Google, with opportunities to take on new problems and contribute across the full stack. Google Labs focuses on incubating early-stage efforts and developing new products and capabilities with the potential for significant impact over longer timeframes. Individual pay is determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. The listed US compensation is $174,000–$252,000 USD, plus a 15% bonus target, equity, and benefits.
