About The Position

Avantos AI is seeking a senior engineer with strong backend and applied AI experience to join its AI engineering team. The role focuses on productizing and scaling the company’s intelligence platform and connecting its capabilities to the product. The engineer will own backend services, APIs, and integrations, primarily using TypeScript, while also delivering full-stack features that connect AI capabilities to React/Next.js experiences. The role includes improving system scalability, reliability, and performance, participating in on-call after ramping, and collaborating across engineering, product, and design. Engineers are expected to use coding agents to accelerate delivery while remaining accountable for planning, code quality, review, and validation.

Requirements

• Senior-level experience shipping and owning production software at scale.
• Hands-on applied generative AI engineering experience building intelligence layers or AI-enabled products.
• Strong backend engineering and API design skills in TypeScript or another transferable language.
• Full-stack capability, including the ability to build and maintain modern web interfaces.
• Sound system design judgment across scalability, reliability, performance, and engineering tradeoffs.
• High autonomy and accountability, with clear communication and sound decisions in ambiguous environments.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Python and/or Go.
• Experience with AI evaluations, integrity systems, or recommendation capabilities.
• Prior startup experience or experience productizing early-stage platforms.
• Financial-services, fintech, or data-intensive product experience.

Responsibilities

• Build and productize reusable AI platform capabilities for other engineering teams.
• Own backend services, APIs, and integrations, primarily in TypeScript, using Go where needed.
• Deliver full-stack features that connect AI capabilities to React/Next.js product experiences.
• Improve scalability, reliability, and performance through sound architecture, testing, troubleshooting, and on-call participation after ramping.
• Use coding agents to accelerate delivery while maintaining ownership of planning, code quality, review, and validation.
• Collaborate across engineering, product, and design; communicate proactively, share ownership, and commit to team decisions.
