About The Position

NextEra Analytics is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to build customer-centric software solutions. The role combines technical expertise, product intuition, business understanding, and ownership. The engineer partners with business leaders to clarify problems, translate ideas into working software, validate assumptions through iteration, and develop prototypes into scalable production systems. The position serves as a bridge between business strategy and engineering execution, with a focus on measurable customer and business value. The position writes and tests software to develop and support products; works with Technical Leads on system architecture and service design; typically leads a system module; participates in product development ceremonies; and writes and refines technical requirements and design documentation. The engineer may also lead a small team in building a software module.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
7 or more years of experience.
Ability to code in multiple languages and develop and test software products.
Ability to write and refine technical requirements and design documentation.
Experience or capability in software system architecture, service design, and component-level architecture.
Ability to lead software module construction from architecture and design through implementation.

Responsibilities

Own delivery of meaningful business outcomes, manage scope responsibly, and communicate technical risks early.

Explain architectural decisions, tradeoffs, risks, and investment choices in outcome-oriented terms.

Translate loosely defined problems into robust architectures while anticipating edge cases.
Deliver products rapidly when appropriate to validate ideas, gather feedback, and accelerate iteration.
Own features end to end across services, data, and user interfaces, making pragmatic technology choices.
Use agentic AI tools throughout the software development lifecycle while remaining accountable for code quality, correctness, and security.
Design quality gates, specification-driven workflows, and deterministic checks to identify coding-agent errors before human review.
Assess emerging AI capabilities and engineering practices and adopt approaches that measurably improve delivery speed, software quality, and developer experience.
Embed security and compliance throughout development and proactively mitigate vulnerabilities through secure design.
Build tested, maintainable software and implement CI/CD pipelines for resilient, scalable systems and a strong end-user experience.
Build observability, alerting, runbooks, and recovery mechanisms to make production systems measurable, debuggable, and recoverable.
Write code in multiple languages to support software products and their development.
Conduct system testing and write unit tests and support features.
Document technical requirements and other technical information.
Work with the product team to refine product requirements.
Collaborate on high-level software design and system architecture, and create component-level architectures.
Lead software module construction from architecture and design through implementation; may lead a small team of engineers.
Participate in required product development process ceremonies.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
