About The Position

Ally Bank seeks a Sr Engineer - Software Eng based out of its office in Charlotte, North Carolina. This hybrid position involves working both from home and from the office; the employee must live within a reasonable commuting distance. The position does not require travel. Specific in-office work requirements will be discussed during hiring and may change based on leader discretion or business needs. The role establishes and maintains cloud governance frameworks and best practices for AWS and Azure environments; designs and architects scalable cloud solutions and applications; and leads FinOps initiatives, including cloud cost optimization, budget forecasting, chargeback/showback models, and Reserved Instances/Savings Plans management. The engineer implements compliance and security requirements, develops infrastructure as code using Terraform, designs and implements CI/CD pipelines and automation workflows, maintains architectural documentation and technical specifications, and provides technical guidance on cloud architecture decisions. Applicants must have a bachelor's degree (or foreign academic equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or three years of experience in a related occupation. Experience must include three years in cloud architecture and engineering, plus three years with each of the listed technologies and practices. Applicants must have the legal right to work in the United States if offered employment.

Requirements

Three years of experience in cloud architecture and engineering.
Three years of experience with AWS (Amazon Web Services).
Three years of experience with Microsoft Azure.
Three years of experience with Python programming.
Three years of experience with Java programming.
Three years of experience with Node.js.
Three years of experience with Terraform.
Three years of experience with CI/CD tools and methodologies.
Three years of experience with FinOps and cloud cost optimization.
Three years of experience with cloud governance and best practices.
Three years of experience designing and architecting cloud solutions and applications.
Must have legal right to work in the United States if offered employment.
Must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the Charlotte, North Carolina office.

Responsibilities

Establish and maintain cloud governance frameworks and best practices for AWS and Azure environments.
Design and architect scalable cloud solutions and applications.
