About The Position

Although the formal title is Senior Test Automation Engineer, this is a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) role requiring hands-on software development expertise in JavaScript, TypeScript, and/or C#, plus working knowledge of SQL. The role treats test automation as a software engineering discipline and focuses on designing, building, and maintaining scalable automated testing frameworks for enterprise applications. The position establishes and owns automated quality engineering capabilities for the SPM Cloud platform. Initially, the role will learn the testing framework, release processes, validation approaches, and quality controls used during implementation while helping prepare STERIS to assume operational ownership. As the platform transitions to internal management, the role will define and execute its automated testing strategy, quality governance framework, release assurance processes, test automation architecture, and quality engineering standards. It will contribute to software quality, reliability, scalability, and delivery excellence across future platform initiatives. The position is located in Vernon Hills, Illinois, with an opportunity for a hybrid work schedule. Candidates currently within commuting distance are preferred.
