About The Position

Although the formal title is Senior Test Automation Engineer, this is a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) role requiring substantial software development expertise and hands-on coding in JavaScript, TypeScript, and/or C#, as well as working knowledge of SQL. The role establishes and owns automated quality engineering capabilities for STERIS’s SPM Cloud platform. Initially, the engineer will learn the existing testing framework, release processes, validation approaches, and quality controls while helping prepare STERIS to assume operational ownership of the platform. As the platform becomes an internally managed product, the role will define and execute the automated testing strategy, quality governance framework, release assurance processes, test automation architecture, and quality engineering standards. The position contributes to software quality, reliability, scalability, and delivery excellence across future platform initiatives. The posting describes the position as remote, with a preference for candidates in the EST or CST time zones. It also identifies Vernon Hills, Illinois, as the position location and notes an opportunity for a hybrid schedule, with candidates within commuting distance preferred.
