About The Position

Trabus Technologies (TRABUS) has an opportunity for a Senior Software Development Engineer to architect and build embedded control and management software and real-time operational analytics for next-generation Software-Defined Radio (SDR) wireless mesh systems. In this role, you will bridge low-level wireless radio control logic with high-level system management. You will implement digital signal processing (DSP) control algorithms for transmitting and receiving wireless waveforms while establishing end-to-end system KPIs, telemetry pipelines, and real-time event alerting.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of hands-on software engineering experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in C++ (17/20), C, and backend languages such as Python, Go, or Rust.
  • In-depth knowledge of SDR architecture, DSP control interfaces, RF state machines, and transceiver control protocols.
  • Expertise in designing and scaling APIs and serialization formats such as JSON and Protocol Buffers.
  • Demonstrated experience processing time-series metric streams, defining RF network KPIs, and building telemetry software pipelines.
  • Experience with embedded database solutions such as SQLite, TimescaleDB, InfluxDB, or Redis optimized for resource-constrained hardware.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to obtain an active DoD Security Clearance (Secret or Top Secret/SCI).
  • Experience with cloud-to-edge telemetry frameworks such as Prometheus, Grafana, MQTT, or Kafka.
  • Familiarity with defense radio standards, tactical data links, or software frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain low-level embedded software for real-time control, configuration, and state monitoring of SDR hardware and RF front-ends.
  • Architect high-performance APIs and services to manage system telemetry, remote node configuration, and external Command & Control (C2) integrations.
  • Build edge analytics pipelines to process and expose critical network KPIs, including RSSI, SINR, packet error rates, mesh link latency, and spectral efficiency, for dynamic network management.
  • Optimize embedded relational and time-series databases to log high-volume operational metrics, store persistent state data, and execute low-latency local telemetry queries.
  • Partner with security and networking teams to enforce zero-trust encryption standards across management interfaces and API payloads over secure RF channels.
  • Lead architectural decisions for control software, mentor team members, and interface with hardware/RF engineers to translate system requirements into reliable software deliverables.
