About The Position

Amentum is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead software development and modernization efforts, including migrating legacy applications to the cloud. The role combines full-stack development, database design, DevOps, systems integration, secure systems engineering, and operational support. The successful candidate will design, build, monitor, troubleshoot, and improve software and infrastructure, and collaborate with clients and cross-functional teams on technical work and project deliverables. A TS/SCI with Poly clearance is required. The position also includes researching and prototyping architectural improvements, reverse engineering legacy codebases, producing technical documentation and UML models, supporting secure communications systems, and facilitating working groups to review processes and develop business strategies. Employees are expected to follow Amentum’s safety, quality, operational, and environmental policies and procedures.

Requirements

Over 8 years of hands-on software development experience; the posting also lists 10 years as the minimum experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Design, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
TS/SCI with Poly clearance.
Experience with EKS/Kubernetes or other container orchestration software.
Hands-on experience with secure systems engineering, systems integration, and reverse engineering.
Proficiency in at least two of the following: Python, NodeJS, Angular, JavaScript, C#, or SQL.
Experience with cloud technologies.
Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Splunk, and diagramming applications.
Strong debugging, performance optimization, and DevOps skills.
Background in on-call support and operational monitoring of critical systems.

Responsibilities

Lead software development projects from requirements analysis through deployment and maintenance.
Design and develop software solutions using technologies such as Python, NodeJS, Angular, JavaScript, C#, SQL Server, Microsoft Windows Server, and Linux.
Migrate existing systems to the cloud and establish CI/CD pipelines.
Monitor, troubleshoot, and enhance system operations using tools such as Splunk and Grafana/Prometheus.
Use Jira and Confluence for agile management.
Produce technical documentation, including system designs, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), and operational procedures.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to reverse engineer legacy codebases and produce UML models.
Support secure communications systems and ensure compliance with operational and security standards.
Research, prototype, and recommend improvements to existing systems and architectures.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex software, performance, and infrastructure issues.
Research and adopt emerging technologies to improve system efficiency.
Communicate with clients about project-specific activities and manage project deliverables.
Facilitate process working groups to analyze existing processes and create new business strategies.
Contribute to a safe work environment, complete required training, fulfill applicable self-aid/buddy-aid responsibilities, and participate in emergency response activities and safety committees or teams.
