About The Position

The Senior Software Developer provides information technology services supporting administrative areas of the University, Hospital, and Veterans Home. The role focuses on Oracle HCM applications and integrations, including business analysis, application design, programming, report development, troubleshooting, problem resolution, maintenance, and documentation. The position also involves selecting, analyzing, configuring, and maintaining software-as-a-service and hosted applications, and translating functional business requirements into technical specifications. The incumbent generally works independently on complex and challenging technical tasks and may mentor junior technical staff. The position builds and maintains relationships and requires effective communication. It supports relevant administrative areas, including Finance/Budget, Student Information Systems, and Human Resources, and collaborates with DoIT staff on projects, application upgrades, quarterly releases, and testing. The role also emphasizes data security, privacy, customer service, and compliance with University and divisional policies and procedures. The appointment is full-time and is approved for participation in SUNY’s hybrid telecommuting pilot, allowing up to five remote days per pay period.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; alternatively, a combination of education and relevant experience totaling nine full-time years may be considered.
Five years of full-time relevant software development experience with Oracle Fusion systems.
Experience with Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC).
Experience with object-oriented languages and structured query language.
Experience with HCM modules, such as Oracle Fusion/Oracle HCM Cloud.
Experience building and configuring integrations.
Experience developing and maintaining APIs, such as REST or SOAP.
Experience updating configurations, enhancing, and troubleshooting existing integrations using OIC and OIC HCM Data Loader.
Experience supporting Fast Formulas across HCM modules.
Ability to translate functional business requirements into technical specifications.

Experience with Oracle Fusion Applications such as Core HR, Payroll, Compensation, or Time and Labor.
Experience building and supporting BI Publisher reports.
Experience developing, supporting, debugging, and enhancing OIC integrations.
Experience with a low-code software development platform such as Visual Builder or similar.
Experience with information systems applicable to the corresponding hiring area.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain current and new features of Oracle HCM applications and integrations.
Perform the software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, analysis, design, coding, testing, debugging, documentation, and maintenance.
Build and maintain reports.
Develop integrations between University systems to streamline business operations and system processes while ensuring data security and integrity.
Collaborate with DoIT staff on new projects, application upgrades, quarterly releases, and testing.
Apply standards to ensure data accuracy, security, and privacy; advise management of potential data or systems security breaches.
Provide customer service and deliver solutions and services in accordance with divisional and University policies, procedures, and processes.
Troubleshoot and revise Fast Formulas in response to reported issues.
Support Visual Builder Cloud Service applications.
Create, maintain, and update documentation for reports and interfaces, including program objectives, use cases, development, logic, coding, configurations, and corrections.
As assigned, mentor, train, supervise, and oversee lower-level staff and student employees, and provide technical expertise.
As assigned, act as Supervising Programmer Analyst.
Perform other duties or projects as assigned in keeping with the position’s rank and departmental mission.
