About The Position

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Senior Software Developer to administer, configure, troubleshoot, and enhance the Edifecs platform for reliable and compliant Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) transaction processing. The role supports the Department of Veterans Affairs and is a 100% U.S.-based remote position. Candidates located in California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, or Washington will not be considered. U.S. citizenship is required, and the candidate must possess or qualify for a Public Trust (MBI). Selected applicants will be subject to a government security investigation and other background checks. The developer will configure and maintain Edifecs XEServer, XEngine, TPM, SpecBuilder, and related modules; build, deploy, and optimize processing rules, routing logic, and batch workflows; and resolve mapping, validation, functional, and performance issues. The role also supports deployments, environment refreshes, patching, upgrades, logging, JVM tuning, and certificate and keystore configuration. The developer collaborates with EDI Analysts, DevSecOps Engineers, Cloud teams, and business teams, and helps ensure seamless production operations across development, operations, and security. This W-2 role requires extensive EDI and AWS experience, strong knowledge of Edifecs architecture and transaction lifecycles, and the ability to communicate technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders. A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline is requested; equivalent practical experience is considered. The stated salary range is $85,389–$116,975. Interviews are conducted on Microsoft Teams with the camera on, and applicants will be asked to provide a LinkedIn profile link.
