About The Position

Electronic Arts is hiring a Senior Software Developer to work at the intersection of research and production, collaborating with Research Scientists and Engineers to integrate emerging technologies into core engine architecture. The role translates exploratory ideas—including AI-assisted creation and procedural systems—into production-ready systems that can operate at scale in a live environment and support an engine used by millions of players. This is a hybrid position based in Redwood City, Montreal, or Vancouver, with onsite work three days per week. The position reports to the Director of Engineering.

  • Proficiency in one or more engine development domains, such as gameplay, simulation, systems, content pipelines, or performance-critical systems.
  • Experience navigating unfamiliar areas of a large codebase and becoming productive quickly in tools, pipeline, or runtime systems.
  • Experience collaborating with others to translate applied research goals into production-ready engine features.
  • Experience contributing to engine architecture or developer-facing platforms.
  • Proficiency with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitLab.

Responsibilities

  • Build upon and extend the engine’s low-level networking layer.
  • Design, implement, and instrument networking features that support multiplayer at scale.
  • Partner with engine developers to ensure gameplay features and systems have full multiplayer support.
  • Define patterns and best practices for multiplayer-ready code.
  • Contribute across engine domains, including tools, data pipelines, and runtime systems, to improve engine capabilities.
