Senior Software Developer, AI Networking

NVIDIA•Santa Clara, WA
•$152,000 - $287,500

About The Position

Join NVIDIA’s AI Networking software development and codesign team, working with the latest NVIDIA hardware and technologies. The team performs full-stack benchmarking for data-center-scale AI training and inference systems, as well as lower-level benchmarks. It develops automated, in-house tools while adopting community practices and frameworks, and contributes tools through public GitHub repositories. The goal is to ensure large-scale systems deliver expected performance in practice by identifying bottlenecks and driving continuous improvement. The role develops AI networking communication frameworks, production applications, tools, and benchmarks used across NVIDIA and externally. It enables new AI models in the benchmarking infrastructure and analyzes large-scale workloads end to end across hardware and software stacks. It also designs automation systems, including large-scale parameter searches, and collaborates with networking and hardware teams to co-design features and software interfaces. The role requires a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or software engineering, or equivalent experience, and at least five years of experience. Candidates should have professional Python development experience, solid Linux expertise, comfort working extensively in command-line environments, and the ability and motivation to learn across hardware, networking, and large-scale AI systems. Experience with modern AI technologies, cluster orchestration, MPI/HPC, networking, or performance optimization is advantageous.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or software engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience.
  • Professional Python development experience, including building maintainable, long-lived tools that do not create a heavy maintenance burden.
  • Solid Linux expertise and willingness to work extensively in command-line environments.
  • Ability and strong motivation to learn and work across a broad, evolving stack, from hardware and networking to large-scale AI systems running across clusters.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of or experience with the modern AI ecosystem, including PyTorch, LLMs, inference, and training.
  • Familiarity with cluster orchestration systems such as Slurm or Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of MPI and HPC, InfiniBand, Ethernet, and networking.
  • Experience in performance optimizations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop AI networking communication frameworks and applications for production use on large supercomputers and data centers.
  • Develop production tools and benchmarks used by teams inside and outside NVIDIA.
  • Enable new AI models in the benchmarking infrastructure and deliver insights through end-to-end analysis of large-scale workloads across hardware and software stacks.
  • Design and implement automation systems, including large-scale parameter searches to find optimal configurations across complex systems.
  • Collaborate with networking and hardware teams to co-design new features and software interfaces.
