About The Position

The Transaction Stream Business Operations (BizOps) team is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to help solve problems, build and support CI/CD pipelines, and advance DevOps automation and best practices at Mastercard. BizOps serves as the production-readiness steward for its platform, partnering closely with developers to design, build, implement, and support technology services. The role ensures that availability, capacity, performance, monitoring, self-healing, and deployment automation are addressed throughout the delivery process. BizOps supports daily operations with an emphasis on triage, root-cause analysis, and understanding product business impact. The team aims to shift operational work earlier into development, proactively manage production and change activities, improve customer experience, and increase the value of supported applications. It also contributes to risk management, compliance, and risk mitigation across environments; streamlines and standardizes application support; and communicates with internal and external partners to align product and customer priorities with operational needs. The engineer will engage across the service lifecycle, from inception and design through deployment, operation, and refinement. They will support services before launch through design consultation, capacity planning, and launch reviews, and maintain live services by monitoring availability, latency, and system health. The role includes sustainable incident response, blameless postmortems, and holistic troubleshooting across the technology stack to improve recovery times. The engineer will work with a global team across multiple technology hubs and time zones and share knowledge with and mentor junior resources. For team members supporting the DevOps pipeline, responsibilities include designing and enhancing Chef-based deployment automation, using Jenkins to orchestrate builds and integrate pipeline tools, supporting code deployments to lower environments, and developing Git-based code-management strategies for parallel deployments across environments. The role also supports validation and operational gating as software moves to higher environments, with an emphasis on automating manual processes.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field involving coding, such as physics or mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience with algorithms, data structures, scripting, pipeline management, and software design.
  • A systematic problem-solving approach, strong communication skills, a sense of ownership, and drive.
  • Ability to debug and optimize code and automate routine tasks.
  • Experience handling difficult situations and making decisions with a sense of urgency.
  • Experience working across development, operations, and product teams to prioritize needs and build relationships.
  • For DevOps pipeline work, experience with industry-standard CI/CD tools such as Git or Bitbucket, Jenkins, Maven, Artifactory, and Chef.
  • For DevOps pipeline work, experience designing and implementing an effective CI/CD flow that moves code from development to production with high quality and minimal manual effort.

Nice To Haves

  • Monitor live-service availability, latency, and overall system health.
  • Scale systems sustainably through automation and advocate for changes that improve reliability and delivery velocity.
  • Support the application CI/CD pipeline, including validation and operational gating for software promotions to higher environments.
  • Design, implement, and enhance Chef-based deployment automation and release processes.
  • Use Jenkins to orchestrate builds and integrate tools such as Sonar, Chef, Maven, and Artifactory.
  • Support deployments into multiple lower environments and automate existing processes where possible.
  • Design and implement a Git-based code-management strategy that supports parallel deployments across environments.
  • Respond to incidents sustainably, conduct blameless postmortems, and troubleshoot across the technology stack to optimize recovery time.
  • Work across development, operations, and product teams to prioritize needs and build relationships.
  • Communicate with key stakeholders and help align product and customer priorities with operational needs.
