About The Position

The Counter Intrusion MSE team develops force-protection systems that monitor secure-area perimeters for approaching people, vehicles, and vessels. Its products use sensor fusion and autonomy to present activity in a common operating picture, and the team works to integrate customers’ legacy security systems into the Lattice ecosystem through scalable software solutions. The team develops, tests, deploys, and sustains its systems in collaboration with product, engineering, sales, logistics, operations, and mission success. Anduril is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to join the team in Irvine, California. The role develops tooling and infrastructure to manage a growing fleet of autonomous Sentry towers and improve the reliability and uptime of systems deployed in harsh, remote locations. The engineer will detect and remotely diagnose problems, and convert recurring incidents into automation, runbooks, and product fixes. The role partners with customer support, field operations, software and hardware engineering, and quality and reliability teams.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of experience in SRE, DevOps, systems engineering, or a similar role running production infrastructure.
  • Strong Linux skills, including systemd, journald and log analysis, SSH-based remote debugging, and shell scripting.
  • Solid networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, VLANs, DHCP/ARP, firewalls, and connectivity troubleshooting.
  • Experience with observability tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, or similar.
  • Proficiency in Python, Rust, or a similar language for automation and tooling.
  • Experience with incident response, root-cause analysis, and writing clear postmortems and runbooks.
  • Comfort working across hardware and software boundaries.
  • Strong communication and ability to coordinate with field technicians, engineers, and operations teams under time pressure.
  • Eligibility to obtain and hold a U.S. Secret security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing fleets of embedded or edge devices, such as IoT, robotics, telecom, or defense systems.
  • Experience with embedded compute platforms.
  • Familiarity with NixOS.
  • Knowledge of sensor systems such as cameras, radar, and GPS/GNSS, and of power systems such as solar, batteries, generators, and power controllers.
  • Experience with RF and mesh radios, Starlink, or LTE backhaul.
  • Prior experience in defense, aerospace, or border and critical infrastructure security.

Responsibilities

  • Build systems to monitor Sentry tower fleet health, including dashboards, alerts, and telemetry.
  • Remotely diagnose issues across compute, software services, firmware, sensors and cameras, power controllers, and connectivity.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis on incidents.
  • Develop automation to reduce manual toil, including tools for safely rolling out configuration and software updates across the fleet.
  • Plan and run staged software, firmware, and configuration rollouts.
  • Review incident trends, identify recurring failure modes and process gaps, and write or maintain runbooks and troubleshooting guides.
  • Provide hardware and software teams with feedback on system and subcomponent reliability.
  • Participate in on-call or escalation rotations for operational events.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full-time offers.
  • Top-tier benefits for full-time employees, including a comprehensive, competitive benefits package described as available at little to no cost to employees.
