About The Position

As a Senior Video and Access Control Technician with BearCom, you will be responsible for leading the installation and support of both onsite and cloud-based Video Surveillance and Access Control systems. Our Technicians are the heart of every service location, and we rely on their expertise in the delivery of the best service and solutions for our customers. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional in-field leadership, customer service and possess the technical ability to create imaginative solutions that meet and exceed the most challenging customer needs. BearCom is the largest distributor of wireless voice, data, video surveillance, and access control solutions in North America, with over 40 years of industry-leading experience and partnerships with major brands like Motorola, Avigilon, Pelco, Ava, OpenPath, Evolv, Verkada, Milestone, Axis, Bosch, and Teldio. Requirements

  • 5+ years of Service Technician experience in diagnosing, repairing, programming, installing and commissioning video and access control type systems.
  • 1+ years of solution design work with full quoting of all services required.
  • 1+ year as field lead over a team of technicians and installers.
  • Thorough understanding of IP networks and electronic systems wired and wireless.
  • Reads blueprints, schematics, system design diagrams, wiring diagrams and can utilize all information in the troubleshooting and repair of electronic systems.
  • Proficiency in operating various test equipment including but not limited to, utility software applications, network testers, and multi-meters.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Holds currently, an Alarm License certification.
  • Holds two or more computer or computer networking certifications: examples listed (CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+), (ETA-I CST, NCT, ICT, NST, WNT), (Cisco CCNA or prerequisite Cisco certification)
  • Must Have Valid Driver’s License
  • Drug Screenings, Motor Vehicle Record, and Background Checks Part of the Hiring Process
  • Must Have High School Diploma

Nice To Haves

  • Experienced in leading in-field service and installation teams to properly execute large scale physical security projects.
  • Experienced Installing and Troubleshooting IP Video Surveillance and Access Control Systems (Avigilon Experience a Plus)
  • Skilled Reading Blueprints and/or Logic Diagrams (e.g., Visio, CAD, BlueBeam)
  • Strong Understanding of LAN/WAN Network Architecture
  • Follows Low Voltage Installation Best Practices
  • Understands Basic RF Theory
  • Ability to Work in Unusual and Sometimes Difficult Positions (e.g., Climbing Ladders and Scaffolding, Crawl Spaces, High-Reach Lift Equipment)
  • Ability to Obtain State Licenses (If Applicable)
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electronics Technology or equivalent, or military training in electronics.
  • Experience with Avigilon or similar video and access control security systems.
  • Security Clearance preferred.
  • Team driven individual in a dynamic work environment, self-driven to perform even without outside direction.

Responsibilities

  • Lead service and installation teams in the Install, Commissioning, Troubleshooting, and Repair of Large-Scale Video Surveillance and Access Control Systems
  • Troubleshoot and Repair Peripheral Devices (e.g., PoE Network Switches, UPS Battery Backups, Equipment Racks, Video Walls, Electrified Locking Hardware, Card Readers, Door Contacts, etc.)
  • Properly configure, test, and optimize video and access control security systems, and integrate these into automated alert and messaging systems.
  • Properly conduct annual preventative maintenance tests and create detailed reports for customer review and related log files.
  • Provide Proof-of-Concept Deployments for Customer Demonstrations
  • Perform Site Walks to Determine Installation Requirements Included in Customer Proposals
  • Read and Interpret Design Drawings and Technical Documentation, Provide Redline Edits to Original Design as Needed
