exnaton is a Climate-Tech startup spun out of ETH Zurich, providing an AI-powered intelligence platform for the new energy world. This platform enables energy providers to quickly develop, test, and scale smart, data-driven energy products such as Energy Sharing, dynamic tariffs, EV Smart Charging, and flexible billing models. Our technology enhances existing infrastructure with flexible, future-proof solutions, helping energy providers unlock new value from decentralized, digital energy efficiently, without large migrations, and at scale. This position can be performed remotely in EU countries, but for this specific role, travel of up to 20% to customers in the DACH region is required.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Administration, Economics, or an energy-related field, and/or corresponding relevant professional experience.
  • Extensive experience in B2B sales or business development within the energy industry, including negotiation responsibility for complex software or service deals with energy providers.
  • In-depth knowledge of the energy market. Familiarity with the role of an energy provider, as well as distribution network operators and metering point operators, and tracking developments like the smart meter rollout, dynamic tariffs, and Energy Sharing.
  • An established network in the DACH energy sector or a clear strategy for building one.
  • The ability to independently set priorities, structure your market approach, and take responsibility for associated goals.
  • A consultative approach: understanding different customer and stakeholder perspectives, recognizing what customers truly need, and thinking in terms of solutions.
  • Confident written and verbal communication skills with both technical and commercial target audiences.
  • Interest in digitalization and software topics, and proficient use of a CRM system.
  • Fluent German and English language skills. Both languages are required for this role; additional language skills are welcome.

Responsibilities

  • Driving new business in the DACH region, our largest and most developed market, working closely with a collaborative team.
  • Taking responsibility for the entire sales cycle, from identifying new opportunities to closing deals and building long-term customer relationships, in close collaboration with colleagues from Sales, Marketing, and Product.
  • Acquiring new energy providers as customers throughout the DACH region and managing the complete sales cycle: identifying relevant accounts, initial contact, needs qualification, offer creation, and closing.
  • Building a reliable pipeline through systematic outreach to municipal utilities and regional/national energy providers, supplemented by inbound leads from marketing activities.
  • Developing offers and business cases that stand up to scrutiny from commercial, technical, and management stakeholders within an energy company.
  • Guiding the multi-stakeholder decision-making processes typical for energy providers, involving product and innovation managers, IT, billing departments, and executive management.
  • Contributing to shaping our positioning in the DACH region, including pricing, messaging, and market feedback, in collaboration with Marketing and Product.
  • Representing exnaton at industry events, trade shows, and customer meetings in the region.
  • Documenting your pipeline in the CRM to ensure reliable forecasts and account knowledge for the entire team.
