About The Position

University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a full-time Sr. Respiratory Therapist. This role is responsible for delivering respiratory care, including ventilation, medical gas therapy, medicated aerosol therapy, pulmonary hygiene, blood gas sampling and analysis, non-invasive oxygen and carbon dioxide monitoring. The position also involves supervising the implementation of respiratory care in patient care units, providing critical care expertise, education, and relief for routine shift staffing and operations. Selected candidates are eligible for a $10,000 sign-on incentive (if all qualifications are met, including a minimum two-year commitment; current UI employees are not eligible) and an additional advanced respiratory care services differential up to $5,000 (prorated based on percentage). The salary listed is based on 100% time. Requirements

  • Graduate of a Commission of Accreditation Respiratory Care (CoARC) approved program
  • A Bachelor's degree in a health related science or an equivalent combination of related education and experience is required
  • Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care or National Society for Cardiopulmonary Technology and licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by the State of Iowa is required
  • Maintain active NBRC Membership
  • 3-5 years’ experience in Respiratory Care practice is required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required
  • Possess a current State of Iowa Respiratory Care Practitioner license

Nice To Haves

  • 3 to 5 years of recent critical care experience
  • Proficient in computer software applications
  • Respiratory Care-Adult Critical Care Specialist (RRT-ACCS)
  • Neonatal Specialty Care Respiratory Care Specialist (RRT-NPS)

Responsibilities

  • Institutes and provides mechanical ventilation
