About The Position

University of Iowa Health Care is seeking Respiratory Therapists for multiple openings on campus, with positions ranging from 60-100% time, primarily on days or nights. Selected candidates may be eligible for a $10,000 sign-on incentive if all qualifications are met, including a minimum two-year commitment (current UI employees are not eligible). This position will also be eligible for an additional advanced respiratory care services differential up to $5,000 (prorated based off percentage). The role is responsible for various respiratory therapy duties including oxygen and aerosol therapy, administration of specialty gases, application of ventilators, arterial puncture, blood gas analysis, implementing patient-driven protocols, and other assigned duties. Requirements

  • Graduate of a two or four year AMA approved Respiratory Therapy program, or completion of the requirements to become registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
  • Possess a current State of Iowa Respiratory Care Practitioner license.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Possess a current CPR certification card.
  • Obtain registry from the National Board for Respiratory Care within six (6) months of date of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Greater than one year of recent ICU level experience.
  • Experience with an electronic medical record documentation system.
  • Currently registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
