Bristol Myers Squibb•Princeton, NJ
•$146,420 - $177,428•Hybrid

About The Position

The Senior Pharmacometrician develops and implements model-informed drug development (MIDD) plans for drugs and other therapeutic agents in clinical development, partnering with Clinical Pharmacology (CP) and other quantitative functions. The role integrates diverse data through pharmacometrics models to inform development decisions and regulatory assessments. Applications include population pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics, exposure-response, disease progression, and model-based meta-analyses (MBMA). Modern methods such as mechanistic modeling (QSP and PBPK), scientific machine learning, and agentic workflows are noted as a significant bonus.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in a relevant field: MS, PhD, or PharmD.
  • At least 2 years of experience with demonstrated progression in pharmacometrics and Clinical Pharmacology knowledge.
  • Basic quantitative data analysis, data wrangling (merging and transforming data), visualization, advanced population pharmacokinetics, and exposure-response skills.
  • Programming experience with R, NONMEM, Monolix, Pumas, Matlab, Python, or Julia.
  • General knowledge of the drug development process.
  • Knowledge of current practices and issues in pharmacometrics and Clinical Pharmacology.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills to report on and deliver scientific presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
  • Local and international travel for conferences and regulatory meetings may be required depending on project needs, up to 5–10% of the time.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of mechanistic modeling is desired.
  • Understanding of modern pharmacometrics approaches such as mechanistic modeling (QSP and PBPK), scientific machine learning, and agentic workflows is a significant bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Clinical Pharmacology lead to specify MIDD components of the pharmacometrics plan, with some supervision.
  • Work with other quantitative disciplines to formulate and execute a coherent modeling and data plan.
  • Plan, execute, and report formal pharmacometrics analyses included in clinical study reports, health authority submissions, and responses to health authority questions, with some supervision.
  • Serve as a MIDD subject matter expert, working with the Clinical Pharmacology lead and other quantitative functions in the development of therapeutic agents, with some supervision.
  • Contribute to maintenance and refinement of pharmacometrics infrastructure, with some supervision.
  • Contribute to pharmacometrics and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Manage pharmacometrics analyses performed by vendors, with some supervision.
  • Participate in interactions with health authorities as a MIDD subject matter expert, with some supervision.
  • Collaborate with internal and external subject matter experts to develop and enhance MIDD methodology and capability, with some supervision.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive benefit plans, including wellbeing support, retirement and financial protection benefits, and medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance offerings.
  • Flexible Time Off without a set accrual limit for eligible U.S.-based exempt employees, subject to manager approval.
  • 11 paid company holidays each year.
  • Eligible employees may have access to paid sick leave, up to two paid volunteer days per year, summer hours flexibility, and leaves of absence for medical, personal, parental, caregiver, bereavement, or military needs.
