About The Position

This role involves assisting in the development of an extrahepatic LNP delivery vehicle to support the delivery of editing payloads in vivo. The Senior Research Associate will assist with experimental design and execution of formulation discovery and platform development activities. Responsibilities include performing characterization of LNPs to determine size, polydispersity, concentration, and encapsulation using established techniques, as well as determining RNA and protein content. The role requires executing experimental plans and interpreting results with guidance from senior scientists, troubleshooting lab workflows, and maintaining lab equipment. Providing high-quality results and documentation in lab notebooks, and collaborating effectively with process development, analytical development, biology, and pharmacology teams are key aspects of this position. The ideal candidate is a driven, enthusiastic, and self-motivated individual comfortable multitasking and working independently within a dynamic and highly collaborative team focused on the design and implementation of RNA Lipid Nanoparticle (LNP) delivery vehicles.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, or related discipline and 2-4 years of experience, or a Master's degree in these fields with 1-2 years of experience.
• Prior experience with either of the following: Working with lipid nanoparticles (LNPs), including their manufacture and characterization.
• Prior experience with either of the following: Implementing various bioconjugation techniques.
• A track record of planning experiments and completing deliverables within specified timelines.
• Excellent communication/presentation skills and capability of conveying technical information in a clear and thorough manner.
• A strong self-starter with excellent organizational skills and a strong attention to detail.
• The ability to work with dynamic teams in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and technical setting.

Nice To Haves

• Industrial research experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of nucleic acid chemistry and biology
• Prior experience with various protein characterization techniques
• Experience with lipid nanoparticle process scale up/down
• Process development and/or analytical development experience
