Senior Reliability Engineer - Advanced Coatings Machining
About The Position
The Senior Reliability Engineer manages and supervises maintenance operations for HSMC-South Advanced Coatings. The role applies specialized maintenance engineering knowledge to keep sophisticated machinery and processing equipment operating reliably and in compliance with process specifications. It develops and implements inspection, maintenance, repair, calibration, and adjustment processes, and introduces new maintenance developments and repair techniques. The engineer responds to equipment emergencies and breakdowns to minimize manufacturing disruption, maintains detailed records and electronic maintenance systems to identify recurring problems and predict maintenance needs, and ensures maintenance is completed on schedule. The role also supports budget creation and expense tracking, maintains tools and repair equipment, negotiates contracts with outside vendors, and trains employees in maintaining advanced coating equipment. The position collaborates with Manufacturing Engineering and Operations Leadership to obtain approval for installation and repair activities, and supports collective bargaining employees in safely troubleshooting and repairing machinery. It focuses on operational efficiency, reducing unplanned downtime, improving overall equipment effectiveness, maintaining clean and hygienic facilities, and complying with workplace safety policies. The role reports to the Advanced Coatings Business Unit Leader and is onsite in East Hartford, Connecticut. U.S. citizenship is required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, administration, or facility management, with at least 10 years of experience in a supervisory role and machine maintenance; alternatively, an advanced degree in a related field and at least 7 years of related experience.
- Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with drafting and interpreting blueprints and schematics.
- Effective communication and people-management skills.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment.
- U.S. citizenship.
Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise HSMC-South Advanced Coatings maintenance operations.
- Assist with budget creation and track expenses for leadership review.
- Implement inspection and maintenance processes for machinery and processing equipment.
- Develop processes to repair, adjust, and maintain production equipment, machinery, and instruments in accordance with process specifications.
- Respond to emergencies, breakdowns, malfunctions, and other operating problems to minimize manufacturing disruptions.
- Implement an established maintenance program and maintain detailed maintenance records to identify and address recurring problems.
- Create procedures to set, calibrate, or adjust equipment, machinery, and instruments to meet production specifications or instructions.
- Maintain tools and repair equipment in good working order.
- Assist with troubleshooting and repairing machinery while ensuring compliance with safety protocols and processes.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering and Operations Leadership to obtain approval for installation and repair activities.
- Train and assist employees in maintaining advanced coating equipment.
- Negotiate contracts with outside vendors for maintenance work.
- Ensure the operational efficiency of electrical equipment and mechanical systems through timely inspection and repair.
- Keep company premises and facilities clean and hygienic.
- Comply with workplace safety policies and standards.
- Implement electronic maintenance record systems to capture, record, and predict maintenance needs.
- Ensure maintenance is completed on schedule, reduce unplanned downtime, and improve operating equipment efficiency to meet industry standards.
