About The Position

Under basic supervision, oversees and leads a variety of recreation programs and events; performs a variety of tasks in support of the assigned area and program. This is a seasonal position from June 1st - August 21st.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 1-3 years of experience in recreation programs or working with children
  • Must possess or have ability to obtain a valid Wyoming/Idaho Driver’s License and maintain an acceptable driving record.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification or the ability to obtain certification.
  • Recreation site safety rules and regulations.
  • Methods of program planning and implementation.
  • Principles, practices, and methods of conflict resolution and problem solving.
  • Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with coworkers and other individuals in contact during the course of work; communicating clearly and concisely
  • Assessing, prioritizing, and completing multiple tasks and demands simultaneously.
  • Administering basic first aid.
  • Ability to transport campers in a 15-passenger vehicle.
  • Comfortable working outdoors and supervising children in or around a pool like setting or large bodies of water.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and leads the day-to-day operations of assigned recreation programs and activities; assembles necessary supplies for each activity.
  • May take attendance for assigned group and records names of participants who are not in attendance; calls participants or parents to verify absences as necessary.
  • Oversees, leads, and assists with various activities; observes participants during program; enforces rules and safety procedures; implements disciplinary actions as necessary.
  • Participates in facility or venue set-up, clean-up, and sanitation.
  • Supports the relationship between the Teton County staff and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and County staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and County information; performs other duties as required or assigned.
  • Provide direct supervision, interacts, and engages with all children during the program.
  • Assist/participate in: administering behavior protocol as directed, administering all medical protocol as directed, verbal and physical assistance, and accomplishes all other tasks as directed.
  • Create a nurturing, positive and professional environment while promoting program policies and procedures amongst staff and campers.
  • Maintaining constant supervision of campers, enforcing all safety regulations, and following emergency procedures.
  • Participate actively and enthusiastically in all camp activities, staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Planning, leading, and implementing age-appropriate, engaging, and safe activities, such as arts and crafts, sports, or nature hikes.
