About The Position

We are seeking a dynamic Senior R&D Manager to lead the Software/Firmware component of our innovative Pulsed-Field Ablation (PFA) product. This role is ideal for individuals with expertise in Medical Device/Medical Technology software product development and a passion for cutting-edge technology. You will drive the Software/Firmware aspects of our industry-leading PFA product and make a significant impact as a People Manager within our progressive R&D team. This is a hands-on management position responsible for directing the activities of the Software and Firmware engineering group, focusing on new product development and the improvement of existing products. As Senior R&D Manager (Software/Firmware), you will lead and be part of a high-performance team responsible for the design, implementation, and testing of Software/Firmware medical systems and their associated devices within our Electrophysiology Pulsed Field Ablation portfolio.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Information Systems or Computer Science or Engineering or relevant field
  • Experience in software/firmware development (C/C++, embedded systems, RTOS) and understanding of hardware/software integration.
  • 7+ years of work experience in software or hardware engineering
  • 4+ years of experience in leading people, preferably Software/Firmware teams
  • Experience in medical device or other highly regulated industry (i.e. aerospace, defense, or other)
  • Demonstrated strong cross-functional collaboration, influence without authority, and project/task management enabling highly effective teams
  • Experience with managing budgets and deadlines
  • Passion for understanding the end user environment with a fluency in design validation and usability to confirm design solutions
  • Personal drive, individual accountability and a strong bias for action
  • Strong personal credibility and excellent communication skills
  • Exceptional communication skills, fluent in both written and spoken English

Nice To Haves

  • Experience developing medical devices from early stage through full product launch and sustaining
  • SCRUM Master
  • Experience in electrophysiology, cardiac rhythm management, structural heart or a comparable intracardiac technology
  • Fluency in the IEC 60601 standards
  • Working proficiency in French

Responsibilities

  • Manage a talented team of engineers working on software and firmware development for PFA technology.
  • Lead Software/Firmware teams in achieving organizational and functional goals. Guide, coach, direct, and develop direct reports, and if applicable, drive those practices throughout their organization.
  • Collaborate with senior technical leaders, project management, and inter-disciplinary partners.
  • Develop detailed work plans, objectives, schedules, project estimates, resource plans, and status reports. Monitor and troubleshoot performance and schedule issues. Support and enable the team to achieve objectives.
  • Oversee development processes to ensure compliance with industry standards, quality systems, and regulatory requirements.
  • Build strategic partnerships and effectively collaborate cross-functionally to further departmental and organizational objectives.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams (engineering, clinical, regulatory, etc.) to ensure alignment, resolve challenges, and meet milestones.
  • Work across multiple design/product workstreams to resolve complex problems with robust technical solutions. Consider all critical aspects of product design during decision making including patient safety, clinical practice, high-level product performance, and product manufacturability.
  • Lead by example and motivate and inspire other technical team members in the program.
  • Create a strong team culture around high expectations and high performance.
  • Demonstrate effective change management leadership.
  • Provide clear communication to stakeholders at key technical updates.
  • Other duties as required.
