About The Position

A new approach to embedded development, building on your Rust or C/C++ experience, to create secure firmware for industrial heating control and leak detection products. We are looking for an intern for an 8-month internship, beginning September 2026, with the possibility of an extension. Preference given to those in their third or fourth year of their post-secondary program. Combine your formal education with specific hands-on experience to kickstart your career as a firmware engineer, embedded software engineer, embedded developer, or firmware software developer. You will gain practical experience at our Research and Development centre in Edmonton, working with experienced embedded firmware professionals. We offer a flexible hybrid schedule.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computing Science, Software Engineering, Mechatronics or a related post-secondary program with a co-op or internship component.
  • Firmware or software design and implementation skills, ideally with Linux, FreeRTOS, or bare metal.
  • Ability to code in Rust, C, C++, Python, or similar.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts with peers and team members.
  • The ability to rapidly learn and apply complex technologies.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with embedded interfaces and communication protocols is an asset.

  • Demonstrate your ability to quickly learn and harness a large set of modern tools to test, implement and deploy embedded firmware solutions.
