About The Position

The Senior R&D Engineer develops and implements complex engineering technologies and approaches, leads projects that advance Integer’s technological capabilities, and provides technical expertise across teams or locations. The role contributes to high-impact engineering projects, may lead cross-functional teams, supervise up to four or five technicians and/or associate engineers, and mentor other engineers. Occasional travel may be required. The position supports Integer’s Manufacturing Excellence and Market Focused Innovation strategies by championing innovation and continuous improvement systems and tools, and by applying the Integer Production System’s five focus areas. The engineer embeds quality in engineering work, supports regulatory and company requirements, and contributes to quality KPIs and continuous improvement. Performance is assessed through safety and quality results, achievement of project goals and milestones, efficiency improvements, innovation, and collaboration.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or related technical field.
At least 7 years of progressive engineering and/or technically focused roles and experience.
Recognized technical subject-matter expertise.

Responsibilities

Adhere to Integer’s values and applicable safety, environmental, security, quality, FDA, company policy, operating procedure, and other regulatory requirements.
Develop new approaches to complex problems and lead projects that advance Integer’s technological capabilities.
Investigate and interpret internal or external technology and business trends, and recommend organizational best practices.
Evaluate, develop, and implement technologies of significant scope and complexity.
Identify and procure complex equipment and technology when needed.
Originate engineering documents, including protocols, reports, specifications, and work instructions; review documentation produced by peers and subordinates as appropriate.
Plan and develop engineering projects addressing unique or high-profile problems with significant impact on major programs.
Lead cross-functional teams or projects and influence others to achieve goals, as appropriate.
Provide supervision for up to four or five technicians and/or associate engineers, and coach and mentor engineers.
Build and maintain relationships with individuals and business units within or outside the site or organization; deploy subject-matter expertise across organizations or locations as directed.
Embed quality in engineering work by adhering to the Quality Management System, facilitating or contributing to corrective and preventive actions, and supporting quality KPIs and the journey to 5 Sigma.
Support Integer’s Environmental, Health & Safety programs and Manufacturing Excellence and Market Focused Innovation strategies.
Champion the development and deployment of systems and tools that drive innovation and continuous improvement.
Apply the Integer Production System’s focus areas, including strategy alignment, sustained change, standardization, associate engagement, and systems and process optimization.
Identify ways to shorten project durations and make systemic changes that improve process and procedural efficiency.
Generate continuous-improvement suggestions and support their implementation.
Perform other duties as needed and directed by line supervision.
