Senior R&D Engineer

NEWTON CFV INC•Sebastian, FL
•Onsite

About The Position

Newton CFV, located in Sebastian, Florida, is a rapidly growing Middleby Company that collaborates with equipment manufacturers, beverage suppliers, convenience store chains, and restaurants to develop and incorporate CFV technology in beverage dispensing and sanitizing systems. The Senior R&D Engineer is a senior member of the design team who leads the design, development, prototyping, and testing of beverage equipment and technologies. The role uses SolidWorks to create and refine designs, develops prototypes with 3D printing and other laboratory resources, and tests designs to validate performance and functionality. The engineer works with cross-functional teams to evaluate designs, identify improvements, reduce costs, and support new beverage equipment from concept through production. The position combines office-based engineering design with hands-on work in an R&D laboratory and manufacturing environment. It requires frequent use of SolidWorks, computers, prototyping equipment, 3D printers, and testing tools. Work involves prototypes and equipment, cross-functional collaboration, and adherence to safety procedures and PPE requirements.

  • Experience with design for manufacturability, cost optimization, and product lifecycle development.
  • Familiarity with product validation, testing procedures, and engineering documentation.
  • Experience mentoring engineers or providing technical leadership on design projects.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in R&D team meetings and contribute to product development strategy, design reviews, and project planning.
  • Lead the design and development of new beverage equipment and improvements to existing products.
  • Create 3D models, assemblies, and engineering drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Build, prototype, assemble, and test parts and equipment in the R&D lab.
  • Design and produce 3D-printed prototypes to evaluate concepts, fit, function, and manufacturability.
  • Conduct prototype testing and analyze results to validate designs, identify issues, and recommend design modifications.
  • Evaluate existing designs for performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost-reduction opportunities.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and other departments to resolve technical challenges and support product launches.
  • Document design changes, test results, and engineering recommendations.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to other members of the engineering team.
