About The Position

Eaton’s IS AER ITD Aerospace Interconnect division is currently seeking a Senior Quality Engineer. The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for developing, applying, revising, and maintaining quality standards for flow-down of customer requirements, engineering product key characteristics, and assurance of in-process, final test requirements, and shipping / receiving inspection processes. Reviews customer/industry/internal specifications to ensure compliance with stated requirements. Provides technical support to program management, operations, customers, and suppliers. Leads formal problem solving for internal and external customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited educational institution.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of engineering or manufacturing engineering experience in an assembly manufacturing environment
  • Quality System Knowledge (e.g. AS9100, ISO 9001, TS16949)
  • Only candidates residing within 50 miles of Camarillo, CA will be considered for this position.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.
  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Responsibilities

  • Completes Quality Engineering assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Develop, communicate, or train, and ensure adherence to quality standards, product specifications, work instructions and procedures across a multifunctional manufacturing organization.
  • Lead and/or provide technical advice and feedback to the Engineering & program management teams assigned to continuous improvement and problem solving.
  • Work in partnership with Design and Manufacturing Engineering to support all development projects and milestones to achieve zero-defect quality and launch readiness.
  • Assure that product shipped meets internal and external customer requirements.
  • Lead corrective action process using 8D, 5 Why, A3, and lean tools.
  • Acts as an organizational contact for customer quality concerns and ensure appropriate corrective actions are deployed.
  • Evaluate, communicate, and rectify in-process rejections, obtain disposition and implement containment, corrective and preventative action to ensure product performance and specification attainment.
  • Formulate and implement quality assurance procedures, policies, and standards. Ensure these documents align with the recognized Aerospace Quality System Standard as well as Eaton Objectives, Policies and Procedures.
  • Communicate quality issues to Integrated Product Team (IPT), front line leaders and factory personnel and lead root cause and permanent corrective action documentation.
  • Direct the disposition and analysis of returned material and internal non-conforming product. Ensure that actions around top pareto items are identified and completed.
  • Manifest a quality culture in all activities through quality management system activities and regular audits including Eaton QMS implementation, ISO 9001 audits and related activities, and employee engagement events.
  • Review supplier FAI submissions, including control plans and assist with FAI and control plan creation where necessary. Ensure all appropriate special characteristics Mandatory Inspection Points (MIPs) are included, that and customer approval is obtained where necessary.
  • Work with Design Engineering and Supply Chain to ensure that quality criteria are identified on all newly established parts, and quality requirements are communicated to suppliers.
  • Responsible for generating End Item Data Package (EIDP) that meets customer requirements for each shipment. Setup a data repository for all documentation to ensure efficient gathering of required documents.
  • Develop and train to the procedure used for preparing EIDP’s.
  • Other duties as assigned.
