•$112,000•Onsite

About The Position

As a Senior QA Engineer at Plus One Robotics, you will help ensure the dependability and quality of robotic systems, including their software and hardware. The role involves deploying and testing software on Linux-based industrial PCs (IPCs), building and maintaining automated test suites, analyzing logs and stack traces to identify failures, and verifying end-to-end product behavior in a physical robot cell. You will work with developers to identify and verify fixes, product owners to confirm intended functionality, and customers to understand real-world use. This is a senior-level position; entry-level candidates are not being considered. The position is based in the company’s San Antonio headquarters and operates in a professional office setting, with occasional exposure to robotic systems and moving mechanical parts. Noise at the office and job sites may sometimes be loud. Some travel is expected for customer support and deployments. The schedule is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The salary range starts at $112,000 per year, with starting salary based on years of experience. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Requirements

  • Strong software QA fundamentals, including test strategy, test plan development, test case design, bug reporting, regression testing, fix verification, and acceptance testing.
  • Proficiency in Python, TypeScript, or a similar language used in test automation.
  • Working proficiency with the Linux command line, including file system navigation, permissions, SSH, service management, and log reading.
  • Experience installing and deploying software builds or deployment packages to test or production systems.
  • Experience with git and GitLab or GitHub, including branches, tags, merge requests, and issue tracking.
  • Experience testing hardware or physical systems, or demonstrated aptitude and willingness to learn hands-on hardware testing.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in QA or test engineering, with the majority in software testing.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience developing software test automation.
  • Experience testing products that combine software and hardware, such as robotics, automation, or embedded systems.
  • This is a senior-level role; entry-level candidates are not being considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with testing frameworks such as Pytest, Puppeteer, Playwright, or similar.
  • Familiarity with C++.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, ideally GitLab CI.
  • Experience with Docker or other containerized deployments.

Responsibilities

  • Define and implement testing strategies for new and existing products, including functional, regression, integration, performance, and stability testing.
  • Create detailed test plans, test cases, and documentation from requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Develop and maintain automated test suites for functionality, performance, and stability, and integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines; perform manual testing when automation is not feasible.
  • Build internal tools and scripts to improve QA workflows, test data collection, and log analysis.
  • Install, deploy, and configure software builds and deployment packages on Linux-based industrial PCs and test systems.
  • Analyze stack traces, application logs, and system output to isolate failures and provide actionable findings to developers.
  • Identify, document, and track bugs in GitLab with reproduction steps and supporting logs or screenshots; work with developers to verify fixes and check for regressions.
  • Use git and GitLab to check out branches and tags, review merge requests and pipelines, and manage issues and epics.
  • Perform hands-on testing of POR robotic systems, including InductOne, and verify that software, electrical, and mechanical subsystems work together end to end.
  • Troubleshoot system-level faults and determine whether they originate in software, electrical, or mechanical subsystems.
  • Advocate for customers and end users by maintaining high standards for quality and usability.
  • Work with product owners to confirm features meet requirements and intended customer use, and participate in acceptance and release sign-off.
  • Present QA data, test results, and analyses clearly to customers, leadership, and cross-functional teams, adapting to the audience.
  • Mentor interns and junior-level teammates by sharing QA practices, providing technical guidance, reviewing work, and supporting professional development.
  • Travel as needed for customer support and deployments.
