About The Position

The Senior Proposal Writer leads the development of high-quality, compelling proposal content for complex government bids supporting federal civilian and defense customers. The role translates raw technical information into clear, persuasive prose, collaborates with solution architects and subject matter experts, and delivers compliant, responsive, differentiated proposal sections under tight deadlines. The writer contributes across the proposal lifecycle, applying industry best practices and participating in color team reviews.

Requirements

• At least 6 years of experience developing proposal content for federal civilian and defense customers, including work specifically supporting the Intelligence Community.
• Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Business, Technical Writing, or a related field; additional experience or a technical writing certificate may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
• Demonstrated ability to convert complex technical material into clear, compelling written content.
• Proven experience writing technical and management approaches for federal proposals.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure while managing multiple concurrent deadlines.
• Strong interviewing skills for gathering information from subject matter experts.
• Excellent written communication, organization, and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint.

Nice To Haves

• Active security clearance or ability to obtain a clearance.
• Shipley, APMP Practitioner, or other formal proposal management or writing methodology training.
• Experience with proposals for classified or Intelligence Community customers.
• Familiarity with proposal collaboration tools and environments such as SharePoint, VT Docs, and PSCi.

Responsibilities

• Develop technical approaches, management approaches, and other proposal narrative sections requiring technical insight.
• Work with solution architects to understand solution designs and clearly articulate them for proposal evaluators.
• Engage subject matter experts across technical domains to gather, synthesize, and refine technical input into polished narrative.
• Ensure proposal content complies with solicitation requirements, aligns with win themes, and reflects understanding of the customer mission.
• Manage and prioritize multiple bids and deadlines concurrently.
• Collaborate with proposal managers, graphics specialists, and other team members throughout the proposal lifecycle.
• Edit and refine content for clarity, accuracy, consistency, and adherence to industry writing standards.
• Apply industry best practices, such as Shipley and APMP, to produce structured, customer-focused proposal narratives.
• Participate in Blue, Pink, Red, and Gold color team reviews and activities.
