About The Position

The Senior Proposal Manager leads and supports the design, planning, and execution of proposals and Statements of Work for potential projects within an assigned region or division. The role requires understanding the major business components and implications of Henkels & McCoy West's pricing and proposal strategies. It also helps ensure compliance with the company's Project Management Methodology and safety and quality management protocols. This position supports Project and Business Development teams by executing bid, pricing, and proposal strategies, assessing internal pricing strategies and performance against service delivery goals, and managing the proposal lifecycle from RFP through award and project handoff. The Senior Proposal Manager leads proposal teams, manages deliverables and deadlines, coordinates internal and external stakeholders, and ensures submissions are organized, compliant, and consistent with company branding and style guidelines. The role is remote within the West Region of the United States, preferably near Vancouver, Washington, or Portland, Oregon.

Requirements

Ability to write clearly and concisely.
Experience as a proposal coordinator, technical writer, or in a similar role in the AEC industry.
Experience with and knowledge of subcontractor bidding events.
Proven excellence in technical writing and organization.
Ability to collect and organize large amounts of information efficiently and promptly.
Solid computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Proven leadership experience with a team of direct reports, especially in the construction arena.
Moderately complex problem-solving skills and proactive use of critical thinking.
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, English, or a similar field, and/or a technical writing certificate with equivalent years of experience.
7–10 years of relevant experience.
At least 5 years of leadership experience mentoring and developing a team of technical writers.

Nice To Haves

Experience with a contractor involved in EPC or Design-Build alternative delivery methods.
Knowledge of Procore, B2W, and P6.

Responsibilities

Lead and support the design, planning, and execution of proposals and Statements of Work for potential projects.
Support Project and Business Development teams by executing bid, pricing, and proposal strategies.
Define and implement RFP requirements and manage the proposal lifecycle from RFP through proposal, award, and project handoff.
Manage proposal deliverables to ensure internal and customer requirements are completed on time.
Lead and oversee a medium-to-large team, including proposal administrators, bid coordinators, technical writers, and technical proposal managers.
Manage direct reports, provide technical guidance to less experienced personnel, and mentor and develop team members.
Lead interfaces with internal and external stakeholders on bid proposals and project planning, communicating and presenting effectively to clients and team members.
Ensure team goals, roles, protocols, and business relationships support high performance and align with company strategy.
Promote accountability and a trusting, candid team environment by providing encouragement and constructive feedback.
Ensure compliance with the Henkels & McCoy West Project Management Methodology and uphold safety and quality management protocols.
Assess internal pricing strategies and performance against service delivery goals.
Manage multiple deadlines and documents while meeting client qualifications and submission deadlines.
Review compliance requirements and organize proposal documents logically to address client requests.
Write document sections as necessary.
Apply company branding and style guidelines to maintain consistent language, messaging, and voice across documents.
Coordinate with different teams to convey requirements and maintain accountability for timely, compliant proposal deliverables.
