About The Position

Langan is seeking a Senior Project Manager – Traffic/Transportation Operations to join its transportation and infrastructure practice in California. This individual will lead and support a variety of traffic operations and transportation engineering projects, with a focus on improving system performance, safety, and multimodal mobility. This role offers the opportunity to work on a range of operational and infrastructure initiatives, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver effective and innovative transportation solutions. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, project management experience, and a proactive, client-focused approach.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of relevant transportation engineering and/or traffic operations experience.
  • Professional licensure (PE, TE, or similar) required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of traffic operations principles and methodologies.
  • Proven experience managing projects, budgets, and client relationships.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with traffic analysis tools and industry software is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage traffic operations and transportation engineering projects from planning through implementation.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients and project stakeholders.
  • Oversee and contribute to technical work related to: Traffic signal timing and coordination, Signal system optimization and operations, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), Traffic operations studies and analyses, Traffic control plans and maintenance of traffic, Multimodal and Complete Streets initiatives, Traffic calming and operational improvements.
  • Coordinate with public agencies, contractors, and project teams to support successful project delivery.
  • Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and staffing plans; monitor progress and ensure quality outcomes.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and quality control for junior staff.
  • Present technical findings and recommendations to clients and stakeholders.
  • Support business development efforts, including proposal preparation and client engagement.
