About The Position

Langan is seeking a Senior Project Manager – Traffic/Transportation Operations to join its transportation and infrastructure practice in Northern California. This individual will support a variety of traffic operations and transportation engineering projects, with a focus on improving system performance, safety, and multimodal mobility. This role offers the opportunity to work on a range of operational and infrastructure initiatives, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver effective and innovative transportation solutions. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, project management experience, and a proactive, client-focused approach.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field.
10+ years of relevant transportation engineering and/or traffic operations experience.
Professional licensure (PE, TE, or similar) required.
Demonstrated knowledge of traffic operations principles and methodologies.
Proven experience managing projects, budgets, and client relationships.
Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

Experience with traffic analysis tools and industry software is preferred.

Responsibilities

Drive project execution across traffic operations and transportation engineering initiatives through implementation, ensuring alignment with broader team objectives.
Serve as a primary point of contact for clients and project stakeholders.
Oversee and contribute to technical work related to: Traffic signal timing, coordination, and system optimization; Traffic Management Center (TMC) operations and corridor management; Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) planning and deployment; Signal system maintenance, asset management, and performance monitoring (SPM); Traffic operations studies, warrant analyses, and operational improvements; Traffic control plans and maintenance of traffic; Multimodal and Complete Streets initiatives, including traffic calming strategies.
Coordinate with municipalities, transportation agencies, contractors, and utility partners to support successful, on-time project delivery.
Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and staffing plans; monitor progress and ensure quality outcomes.
Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and quality control for junior staff.
Present technical findings and recommendations to clients and stakeholders.
Support business development efforts, including proposal preparation and client engagement.
