About The Position

The Senior Project Manager - Commercial is responsible for leading all phases of the design process with a high level of proficiency and expertise, adhering to firm and project goals and standards of excellence in design, execution, and living design. This role has full responsibility for managing all aspects of projects to ensure efficient execution within scope and budget. The Senior Project Manager manages project teams, fosters collaboration, and demonstrates strong communication and direction to inspire high team performance and successful project delivery. They lead efforts in developing and validating project scope, fee, budget, and services during the marketing and contract development process. Accountable for complete and timely communication of project information to and from clients and the project team, this role also manages projects using the Deltek Project Management system, completing work plans and monitoring construction administration. The Senior Project Manager works with Project Architects to avoid schedule conflicts, provides ongoing communication through meetings and memos, and communicates with clients, consultants, contractors, and sub-consultants. They understand and respond to technical implications and design decisions, participate in marketing opportunities to develop client relationships, and control risk management by monitoring client and technical issues. Additionally, they review work for accuracy and compliance, coordinate staffing resources, and mentor staff.

Requirements

  • 10–15+ years of experience demonstrating significant project leadership in the commercial market.

  • Understanding of life safety requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of 2D/3D production software
  • Advanced Revit skills
  • Experience with conceptual modeling tools
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office / Adobe Suite
  • Experience with physical modeling tools such as 3D Printing and Laser cutting
  • Experience with presentation tools such as InDesign and Photoshop
  • Experience with Vision/Deltek
  • Experience with PMTK
  • LEED GA certification within 6 months of hire
  • Professional Accreditation in one area of Living Design (LEED AP with Specialty, BREEAM AP, WELL AP, SITES AP, Passive House Institute Certified Passive House Consultant/Designer CPHC/CPHD, or ILFI Living Future Accreditation)
  • Architectural license or Interior Design license/certification
  • Bachelor's degree in architecture or related discipline

Responsibilities

  • Leading all phases of the design process with a high level of proficiency and expertise while adhering to firm and project goals and standards of excellence in design, execution, and living design.
  • Managing all aspects of projects to ensure efficient execution within scope and budget.
  • Managing project teams, fostering collaboration, demonstrating strong and effective communication and direction which inspires high team performance, design ideas, and successful project delivery.
  • Leading effort in developing and validating project scope, fee, budget, services during the marketing and contract development process.
  • Accountable for complete and timely communication of project information to and from clients and project team.
  • Managing project using the Deltek Project Management system; completes work plans in Deltek, including identification of project team members, budget, consultants, schedule for completion, fees, and costs as well as project change notices or other actions taking place on the assigned project.
  • Working with Project Architect and Sr. Project Architect to avoid or eliminate conflicts in schedule due to the changes in various projects.
  • Providing on-going communication through team meetings, minutes, and memos to project team.
  • Communicating with clients, consultants, contractors, sub-consultants, and other disciplines to ensure effective communication.
  • Monitoring construction administration during the construction phase.
  • Understanding and responding to technical implications and design decisions.
  • Participating in marketing opportunities and developing successful client relationships for continuing business.
  • Controlling risk management by monitoring client issues and technical issues in a timely manner to minimize liability.
  • Reviewing work for accuracy, omissions, legibility, and for document compliance in accordance with the Project Delivery Manual.
  • Coordinating staffing resources with Operations Director.
  • Mentoring staff.
