About The Position

The Senior Product Specialist – Revenue Management serves as the domain expert who ensures Appia's features solve real revenue management challenges. Reporting to the Product Director, the position translates a deep understanding of RM processes and client needs into clear requirements, leveraging AI-assisted tools while providing the critical domain judgment that ensures technical solutions deliver genuine business value in coordination with the Product Development Manager. The Senior Product Specialist – Revenue Management works across the teams to ensure requirements are clear, complete, and aligned with business objectives. The position is based in Montreal for fiscal reasons, though exceptional remote candidates may be considered.

Requirements

  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience in revenue management within the passenger transportation industry (rail, airline or similar)
  • Ability to read/speak/write English (required)
  • Deep understanding of Revenue Management principles and passenger transportation industry challenges
  • Strong dedication to understanding and meeting client needs
  • Ability to work effectively with AI-assisted documentation and analysis tools
  • Ability to validate AI-generated specifications and documentation for domain accuracy, challenge assumptions, and identify gaps that require human expertise
  • Strong ability to solve complex revenue management problems and break down business challenges into structured solutions
  • Strong oral and written communication abilities, including the ability to write clearly and structurally, and to adapt communication to different audiences
  • Strong command of MS Office tools, particularly Excel and ideally Power BI for data analysis
  • Meticulous approach to requirements specification ensuring completeness and accuracy
  • Ability to leverage AI to write clear, structured functional specifications and user stories that bridge business and technical teams
  • Ability to understand and translate client needs into clear requirements that drive product value
  • Strong interpersonal skills including active listening and ability to work effectively in international, multicultural teams
  • Strong understanding of user experience principles and ability to advocate for end-user needs
  • Self-motivated with strong sense of ownership for requirements quality and feature outcomes

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Transportation Management, or related quantitative field (asset)
  • Experience at more than one passenger transport company (asset)
  • Experience with a Rail Revenue Management system (preferred)
  • Experience as a Functional/Business Analyst in a technology setting (preferred)
  • Comfort working with emerging AI technologies and tools
  • Experience in an Agile development environment (preferred)
  • Knowledge of JIRA, Confluence, Miro, and Figma (preferred)
  • Experience with user tracking tools such as Heap and MS Clarity (ideally), Pendo, or Google Analytics (preferred)
  • French (preferred)
  • Knowledge of Spanish, German or other languages (preferred)
  • Ability to work with international and distributed teams

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain deep understanding of revenue management processes and business challenges in the passenger transportation industry
  • Analyze how clients use our solutions to assess their usefulness, gain insights, or identify opportunities
  • Translate high-level roadmap topics and user stories into detailed functional specifications
  • Collaborate with various teams to ensure a shared vision when creating new features and that these features achieve the desired outcomes
  • Work with the person in charge of UI/UX Design to define user interfaces and experiences to be implemented
  • Communicate with internal or external clients to ensure their needs are properly addressed
  • Participate in the business validation of new features
  • Assist with the maintenance of the Appia User Manual
  • Occasionally participate in product-related responses to RFPs
