About The Position

The Senior Product Manager owns the vision, direction, priorities, and full lifecycle of a larger, more complex, or strategic product or group of products, from strategic planning through tactical execution. The role requires an in-depth understanding of customer needs and the ability to translate them into clear priorities, roadmaps, and high-impact solutions in partnership with design and engineering. The Senior Product Manager considers how decisions affect adjacent products, teams, and the end-to-end customer experience, makes trade-offs visible, and shapes product direction with a clear view of commercial impact. The role balances short-term delivery with long-term system health and customer trust, while maintaining focus on the right problems, customers, and investments. It has no people-management responsibilities, but includes mentoring junior Product Managers and taking functional leadership when requested. Strategic vision, tactical execution, cross-functional coordination, and credible leadership in building AI-enabled products are all important. This is a hybrid role. Thomson Reuters serves professionals and institutions across legal, tax, accounting, compliance, government, and media with specialized software, insights, data, and solutions. The company has approximately 26,000 employees across more than 70 countries. The position is open due to an existing vacancy to support evolving business needs. The role may be eligible for an annual bonus based on enterprise and individual performance. Base compensation varies by location: $137,900–$256,100 USD in specified locations including New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles and/or Irvine, CA; McLean, VA; and Washington, DC; $119,700–$222,300 USD for other eligible US locations unless otherwise noted; and $126,000–$176,000 CAD in Ontario, Canada.

  • Act decisively with a bias for action, cutting through uncertainty and challenging processes, norms, or expectations that compromise customer value, quality, or market relevance.
  • Communicate clearly and with conviction, simplifying complexity, tailoring the narrative to the audience, and proactively surfacing risks, delays, scope changes, and difficult trade-offs.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated accountability for commercial outcomes such as adoption, retention, and revenue, including pricing, packaging, and business-case development.
  • Experience defining outcome metrics and instrumentation strategy using product analytics tools such as Pendo or Amplitude, and running structured experiments.
  • Experience leading portfolio or product-integration strategy across multiple products, platforms, or acquired technologies.
  • History of mentoring junior Product Managers and leading cross-functional initiatives without direct authority.
  • Experience engaging enterprise customers at the executive level, such as through customer advisory boards and strategic account reviews.

  • Use market, competitive, and technology insight to set strategic direction, prioritize differentiated investments, protect what works, and maintain focus.
  • Own outcomes across the product lifecycle by managing risks and opportunities, making decisions amid ambiguity, and timing releases around customer and market readiness.
  • Communicate product vision, priorities, trade-offs, and progress clearly; build trusted cross-functional partnerships; and develop junior Product Managers.
  • Partner with engineering on architecture, AI, APIs/MCPs, build-buy-partner decisions, technical debt, instrumentation, and responsible AI practices.
  • Challenge processes, norms, or expectations that compromise customer value, quality, or market relevance.
