About The Position

This role focuses on the trust and access layer of the dbt platform, encompassing identity, authentication, authorization, and deployment. The Senior Product Manager will own the roadmap for these critical areas, ensuring the platform meets enterprise security and compliance requirements. This includes managing features like SSO, SCIM, RBAC, PrivateLink, and the initial user onboarding experience. The role involves working closely with engineering teams (IAM and Transport), security, infrastructure, compliance, and field teams. The recent merger with Fivetran adds an established customer base and ARR momentum, presenting an opportunity to solve new problems in the open data infrastructure space. The goal is to make enterprise security a competitive advantage and unlock new customer segments and deployment models.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of product management experience, with significant experience in identity, access management, security, or infrastructure products.
  • Direct experience with authentication and authorization technologies (SSO, SCIM, OAuth/OIDC, RBAC, identity providers).
  • Experience with multi-tenant SaaS deployment models, including tenancy, isolation, regional expansion, and migration paths.
  • Strong technical foundation to collaborate effectively with engineering and understand architecture.
  • Comfort engaging with enterprise customers, especially security and platform teams, and translating their needs into product work.
  • Excellent written communication skills for creating clear specs, documenting tradeoffs, and explaining technical decisions to diverse audiences.
  • Comfort operating asynchronously on a distributed team.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience at an identity provider (Okta, Auth0, Entra) or on identity, access, or deployment products at a hyperscaler (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Shipped private networking capabilities (PrivateLink, VPC peering, customer-managed network isolation).
  • Experience working within compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, FedRAMP, HIPAA, GDPR) as a product owner.
  • Experience migrating a large customer base between deployment or tenancy models.
  • Background in telemetry and observability for platform services.
  • Hands-on experience with dbt, analytics engineering, or the modern data warehouse ecosystem (Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, Redshift).

Responsibilities

  • Own the roadmap for identity, access, and deployment across the dbt platform.
  • Make enterprise security a reason for winning deals, going beyond basic requirements like SSO, SCIM, RBAC, and PrivateLink.
  • Lead the single-tenant to multi-tenant migration program for enterprise customers.
  • Unlock new geographies and clouds by defining deployment requirements such as data residency and regional isolation.
  • Own the user onboarding experience, including login, sign-up, and account discovery.
  • Empower administrators with tools for managing users, groups, invites, and permissions for self-serve provisioning.
  • Act as the product representative in enterprise security reviews, translating feedback into product strategy.
  • Partner with infrastructure and platform teams on telemetry and observability for the platform's operational health.
