Senior Product Engineer - Leeds, AL
About The Position
The Senior Product Engineer performs a broad range of engineering design work, creating system design specifications for complex components and systems. The role makes design changes and prepares preliminary sketches to guide layout drafters. It also coordinates major engineering projects and consults with other engineers on design specifications, manufacturing processes, legal and safety matters, and government regulations. The engineer supports manufacturing and quality processes across factory locations, contributes to product introductions and engineering change activities, and maintains current knowledge of standards applicable to Hubbell products. The role may provide leadership to Product Design Engineers or Technicians as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 5–8 years of experience in the design or manufacture of electromechanical products.
Responsibilities
- Provide timely analysis of manufacturing problems in conjunction with engineering.
- Participate with Quality in resolving UL variation notices.
- Participate with Quality in maintaining CSA Category Certification.
- Participate in the Material Review Board function for both manufacturing locations.
- Generate Design Change Requests (DCRs) for factory locations.
- Review Engineering Changes (ECs) for factory locations.
- Assist with implementing Documentation Change Notices (DCNs) for factory locations.
- Assist Design Engineering in introducing new products.
- Participate in ISO auditing.
- Maintain current knowledge of UL, Federal Specification, CSA, and other standards requirements applicable to manufactured Hubbell products.
- Provide leadership as needed to Product Design Engineers or Technicians.
- Create system design specifications for complex components and systems.
- Make design changes and prepare preliminary sketches to guide layout drafters.
- Coordinate major engineering projects and consult with other engineers on design specifications, manufacturing processes, legal and safety matters, and government regulations.
