Engineering Change Coordinator - Leeds, AL

Hubbell Incorporated•Leeds, AL

About The Position

The Engineering Change Coordinator coordinates and drives engineering changes for Engineer-to-Order (ETO) products from identification through implementation and closure. The role ensures changes to drawings, bills of material, routings, specifications, and related manufacturing information are communicated, prioritized, released, and implemented in a controlled manner. It serves as a central coordination point among Engineering, Manufacturing, Materials/Planning, Quality, and Commercial teams to align changes with customer commitments, production schedules, material availability, and product quality. The coordinator tracks active changes and ETO orders, facilitates cross-functional review and disposition, resolves documentation and configuration discrepancies, and coordinates change impacts on materials and production. The position also maintains change tracking and reporting, follows up on actions and dependencies, escalates high-risk issues, and supports improvements to engineering-release and change-management processes. Success is measured through change aging and cycle time, action completion, production interruptions, on-time engineering release, recurring changes, and first-time-right BOM and drawing releases.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent relevant manufacturing experience.
  • Experience working in an engineered-product or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple priorities and follow actions through completion.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, bills of material, and product specifications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and standard Microsoft Office applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an Engineer-to-Order or Configure-to-Order manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP.
  • Experience with engineering change control, BOM management, document control, or product lifecycle management processes.
  • Familiarity with CAD drawings and engineering documentation.
  • Experience supporting electrical, mechanical, or utility-industry products.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and track Engineering Changes for ETO orders, including priorities, owners, required actions, and completion status.
  • Facilitate review and disposition of Engineering Changes with Engineering, Operations, Materials, Quality, and other stakeholders.
  • Drive changes from initial request through engineering release and manufacturing implementation; escalate changes that threaten customer delivery, schedules, or material availability.
  • Review active ETO orders for engineering changes or documentation issues that could prevent execution.
  • Coordinate resolution of drawing, BOM, specification, configuration, and manufacturing-documentation discrepancies.
  • Work with Planning and Operations to ensure released engineering information is available when needed for manufacturing.
  • Identify changes affecting work already released to production and coordinate appropriate disposition.
  • Assess which open orders, components, drawings, BOMs, and production activities may be affected by proposed changes.
  • Coordinate disposition of obsolete, excess, rework, or replacement materials resulting from changes.
  • Ensure downstream stakeholders understand when a change becomes effective and coordinate implementation timing to limit production disruption and delivery impact.
  • Serve as the communication link between Operations and the ETO execution team; document decisions, owners, actions, and due dates.
  • Follow up on overdue activities and unresolved dependencies, and communicate high-risk changes to appropriate leadership.
  • Develop and maintain Engineering Change tracking and reporting; monitor recurring causes and identify opportunities to reduce preventable changes.
  • Support improvements to ETO engineering-release and change-management processes, tracking metrics including open and aging changes, overdue actions, implementation cycle time, and changes affecting production.
  • Help improve engineering-release quality and first-time-right execution.
