About The Position

Expedia Group’s Product & Technology team builds end-to-end experiences for travelers, partners, and the company. The AI Experiences team is shaping travel shopping by exploring ways AI can help travelers discover options, make informed decisions, and plan trips confidently. The Senior Product Designer will help define how travelers interact with AI throughout their shopping journey, turning evolving AI capabilities into intuitive, transparent, and trustworthy experiences at global scale. This hands-on role involves designing AI-powered travel shopping experiences from opportunity framing and interaction models through execution, launch, and iteration. The designer will work across conversational, visual, and multimodal interfaces; collaborate with Product, Engineering, Data Science, Research, and Content Design; and use prototypes, experiments, AI outputs, research, analytics, and customer feedback to learn and improve. The role also contributes design patterns and best practices, supports fellow designers through critiques and mentoring, and champions accessibility, inclusion, and responsible AI design. Success means creating reliable experiences that help travelers understand recommendations and make confident decisions; delivering polished, scalable interaction and visual design; bringing cross-functional teams into alignment around complex problems; and exploring AI opportunities with a focus on meaningful customer value. The role is offered in Austin, Los Angeles, San Jose, San Francisco, Seattle, and New York, with other Expedia Group locations open for discussion. Compensation varies by location. The listed cash ranges are $161,000–$225,500 in Chicago; $173,000–$242,500 in Seattle and Austin; and $187,000–$261,500 in New York, San Jose, and San Francisco. The posting also describes potential performance-based increases to higher range maximums. Expedia Group offers medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid time off, an Employee Assistance Program, wellness and travel reimbursement, travel discounts, and IATAN membership.

  • Identify opportunities where AI can improve the traveler experience rather than add complexity.
  • Create prototypes, experiments, and tangible design artifacts to accelerate learning and decision-making.
  • Work directly with AI outputs and evolving technologies to evaluate interaction patterns, identify edge cases, and find opportunities for improvement.
  • Use research, analytics, experimentation, and customer feedback to refine experiences and influence roadmap priorities.
  • Contribute patterns, frameworks, and best practices for designing AI-powered experiences.
  • Participate in design critiques and reviews and mentor fellow designers to improve work quality and consistency.
