Senior Product Designer - Click UI
About The Position
ClickHouse is seeking a designer who codes to own the design side of Click UI, its open source design system. The role is part of a solution-oriented product team and connects system-level design decisions to end users. The designer will maintain the system in Figma, collaborate with contributors and consumers, and help improve adoption and product quality across the ClickHouse ecosystem. The position involves close partnership with product managers and engineers, fast iteration based on feedback, and use of AI tools to improve design and engineering workflows. ClickHouse is a globally distributed, remote-friendly company operating in over 25 countries. Requirements
- Strong visual design fundamentals and experience building and maintaining a design system.
- Proven experience designing complex software applications, ideally in B2B SaaS or developer tools.
- Advanced proficiency in Figma, including components, prototyping, and design systems.
- Frontend engineering skills, including CSS, React, and TypeScript, and comfort working in a real codebase.
- Experience owning products end to end and working directly with developers and product managers.
- Enthusiasm for AI tools and active use of them in design, engineering, workflows, or related work.
- Energy for startup pace, ambiguity, and shifting priorities.
Nice To Haves
- Experience owning multi-brand design systems or a design system across multiple technology stacks.
- Experience designing IDEs, data products, or other technical developer tooling.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted design or engineering workflows, such as Cursor, Copilot, Figma MCP, or v0.
- Open source contributions or an active GitHub presence.
- Experience in a fast-moving, globally distributed startup.
Responsibilities
- Own Click UI’s design system in Figma and make design decisions that determine how components look and feel across the ClickHouse ecosystem.
- Work directly with contributors and consumers of Click UI to improve the system and drive adoption of new and existing components.
- Communicate designs through wireframes, prototypes, and visual mockups, iterating quickly on feedback.
- Partner closely with product managers and engineers as an embedded collaborator.
- Use AI tools to accelerate workflows, automate repetitive tasks, and improve code and design quality.
- Contribute to design feedback sessions with internal and external stakeholders to validate assumptions.
- Advocate for product quality and user experience, creating guardrails when needed.
