About The Position

This role is for a Senior Associate, Senior Product Designer, Field Experience within the Field Productivity value stream. The primary focus is on designing tools and experiences that enable New York Life agents/advisors to sell, service, and grow their business more efficiently. The work involves simplifying complex, regulated workflows across the entire agent journey, from prospecting and planning to quoting, applications, servicing, and ongoing client engagement. The position is full-time, located in the Greater New York City area, with a hybrid work model requiring 3 days per week in the office (Tues-Thurs). The role falls under the Marketing, Product & Design department.

Requirements

  • Portfolio including case studies as a document or link with resume (no Dropbox or similar file sharing).
  • Expert understanding of human-centered design principles, interaction design, visual design, and user experience.
  • A bachelor's in a relevant field such as Design, Interaction Design, Communication Design or a related discipline. Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
  • At least 5 years in digital product design, including a track record of shipping high quality designs for complex workflows (e.g., CRM, sales enablement, case management, servicing) across responsive web and/or native apps.
  • Experience with designing for multiple projects in a fast-paced, very deadline-driven environment.
  • Experience leveraging design systems and comfort working with data-heavy, workflow-driven experiences and structured systems.
  • A successful track record of shipping digital experience designs in a Scaled Agile (SAFe) environment across a range of front-ends and platforms (e.g., workflow tools, CRM platforms, low/no-code platforms, framework-based front ends, native apps).
  • Familiarity with technical architecture concepts including service-oriented architecture and micro-services, data models, and front-end programming (e.g., HTML, CSS).
  • Mastery of design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe Creative Suite) and digital whiteboard/facilitation tools (e.g., Figjam, Miro).
  • Adaptable with the ability to bring clarity and structure to ambiguity.
  • Strong communication skills: Ability to leverage expert communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and executives.
  • Strong organization and attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in life insurance, financial services, or another highly regulated industry - especially building tools for field sales organizations (agents/advisors) and complex application or servicing workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Lead early-stage design concepting by turning ambiguous problem spaces into clear, testable concepts and experience flows grounded in user and business needs.
  • Work closely with design leadership to ensure consistent application of standards and alignment with evolving strategic direction.
  • Translate validated concepts into detailed, production-ready design specifications, including component-level documentation, edge cases, and responsive behaviors.
  • Partner closely with engineering during handoff and implementation, providing clear design artifacts, answering questions, and reviewing builds to ensure high-quality execution.
  • Design end-to-end experiences for agent/advisor-facing products and workflows, ensuring each experience is fast, clear, and aligned to business goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Prioritize design work across multiple workstreams in the Field Productivity value stream, balancing long-term vision with near-term delivery in partnership with Product and Engineering.
  • Plan and run research and discovery with field users (agents/advisors, field managers, service teams) to understand real-world workflows, constraints, and pain points, then translate insights into experience strategy and UX decisions.
  • Drive consistency and quality by leveraging and evolving shared design systems, patterns, and standards so field tools feel cohesive and familiar.
  • Use outcomes and insights (e.g., task time, adoption, error rates, satisfaction) to iterate and continuously improve field productivity.
  • Collaborate with design leadership, product owners, engineering, operations, compliance, and field stakeholders, driving alignment and decision-making across a large-scale, multi-year implementation and in-year MVP delivery.
  • Participate in working sessions and to define and ideate, align stakeholders, and enable confident decisions.
  • Collaborate closely with design, product, business, and field leadership across NYL to shape direction, maintain alignment with strategic objectives, and advocate for a cohesive, experience-led vision across teams.
