About the position
The job overview for this product designer position involves being involved in the full product development process, from brainstorming to launch, and using a balance of product, interaction, and visual design skills to create the next great experience for Discord. The ideal candidate should have at least 4 years of experience designing modern consumer-focused products, a high level of skill in crafting high-quality visual designs, and a portfolio of work on which they were the primary designer contributing to high-impact projects for both desktop and mobile. Bonus points are given for CSS, JavaScript, or React skills and interface animation know-how.
Responsibilities
- Form part of the growing and "EPAD" organization that includes Engineering, Product, Analytics, and Design functions.
- Partner with senior designers, engineers, product managers, and other cross-functional peers to oversee the user experience from idea to market.
- Present and communicate designs to the team and the greater organization to build consensus around concepts.
- Create wireframes, beautiful mockups, amazing prototypes, and help implement designs to pixel perfection.
- Test, learn, and iterate on everything done alongside product peers.
- Meaningfully contribute, maintain, and commit to the Design System library.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience designing modern consumer-focused products
- High level of skill at crafting high quality visual designs and have an eye for creating delight in every product experience
- Portfolio of work on which you were the primary designer contributing to high impact projects for both desktop and mobile
- Meaningfully worked on, or with a design system
- Proactively form ideas and present them to your cross-functional team to develop strategy and roadmaps
- Collaboratively guide the vision for the product and achieve it through design explorations, documentation, and presentations
- Bonus points for CSS, JavaScript, or React skills and interface animation know-how
