About The Position

American Freedom Insurance Company (AFIC), a midsized and growing company in the nonstandard automobile insurance industry, is hiring a Senior Product Analyst for its Product Management team. The role focuses on evaluating Personal Auto insurance performance across multiple states, analyzing pricing and profitability trends, supporting regulatory initiatives, and identifying opportunities to improve products. It is suited to an insurance professional who enjoys working with data, researching market trends, and turning findings into business recommendations. The role may provide an opportunity to develop into a Product Manager. The analyst will assess insurance results, pricing, underwriting, and market conditions; develop reporting and analytical models; and support rate, rule, and form changes and state filings. The position works with Product Management, Underwriting, Actuarial, Claims, Marketing, IT, Finance, and other teams, and communicates findings to Product Management and senior leadership. AFIC operates in Illinois, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Texas, and is licensed in Ohio.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field preferred.
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in the property and casualty insurance industry required.
Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
Experience working with insurance performance data, including loss ratios, premium, retention, rate changes, and profitability metrics.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ability to analyze large datasets and develop meaningful reports.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain analytical findings to non-technical audiences.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively across departments.

Advanced degree.
Experience in personal auto insurance, product analysis, pricing, underwriting analytics, actuarial support, or insurance reporting.
Experience with SQL, Power BI, Tableau, or other data analysis and visualization tools.
Interest in leveraging emerging technologies and AI tools to improve analytical efficiency and business performance.
Familiarity with insurance rate filings, state regulations, SERFF, or product development processes.

Responsibilities

Analyze Personal Auto insurance performance across multiple states, including loss ratios, premium growth, retention, policy counts, producer performance, and overall profitability.
Evaluate pricing strategies, rate changes, underwriting results, and product performance to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and analytical models.
Identify key trends and provide actionable recommendations to Product Management and senior leadership.
Conduct competitive analysis and market research on pricing, coverage offerings, underwriting practices, and industry trends.
Support the development and evaluation of rate, rule, and form changes with Product Management, Underwriting, Actuarial, Claims, and other internal teams.
Assist with preparation, coordination, and implementation of state insurance rate and rule filings through SERFF.
Research state insurance regulations and assist with regulatory inquiries, compliance reviews, and market conduct examination requests.
Partner with Marketing, Claims, Underwriting, IT, Finance, and other departments to evaluate product performance and implement improvements.
Identify opportunities to improve profitability, operational efficiency, and the customer and agent experience through data-driven recommendations.
Use analytical tools, automation, and AI-powered technologies to streamline reporting and improve business insights.
Prepare presentations and communicate findings and recommendations to Product Management and senior leadership.
Assist in evaluating new market opportunities, product enhancements, and potential state expansion initiatives.
