About The Position

Local Media News at TelevisaUnivision is looking for a Senior Producer to join our Sacramento team! You will work with reporters to conceptualize, coordinate, and approve story packages to conform to station policies, practices, and procedures. You will work with assignment editors and newsroom managers to assign stories and monitor story coverage. The ideal candidate must love breaking news and understand how to best reach audiences on different platforms. You are an enthusiastic self-starter who loves working with data, is detail oriented, and enjoys working in a collaborative team environment. You have some experience producing broadcast news.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2-years’ experience in a newsroom required
  • The ability to multitask and manage time to put together an exciting and informative newscast
  • Flexibility and on-the-spot problems solving abilities are a must
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
  • Must be highly proficient both in English and Spanish
  • Must possess high ethical and journalistic standards
  • Must be proficient with I-News software
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced and deadline driven environment
  • Possess solid news judgment and be a compelling and accurate writer
  • Detail oriented with ability to work with tight deadlines and juggle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Willingness to take feedback/criticism and improve upon skills

Nice To Haves

  • BA/BS preferred in Journalism/Mass Communications or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

  • Generate research, verify, plan, and develop story ideas and breaking news for newscasts
  • Plan, structure, write, and edit newscasts, or other news programming or material including but not limited to multimedia properties.
  • Work with reporters to conceptualize, coordinate and approve story packages to conform to station policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Work with Assignment Editors and newsroom managers to assign stories and monitor story coverage.
  • Produce and edit editorial content directly to website as needed.
  • Produce and edit content for social media platforms and the station’s website to expand audience reach and engagement.
  • Lead daily editorial meetings and help drive the newsroom’s editorial vision and coverage priorities.
  • Produce special newscasts, franchise coverage, and sweeps content with a focus on impactful storytelling and audience growth.
  • Manage and coordinate newsroom resources daily to maximize coverage, strengthen multi-platform storytelling, and amplify breaking news and enterprise reporting.
  • Train, mentor, and support new producers and editorial personnel on newsroom workflows, editorial standards, production techniques, and multi-platform content execution.
