Senior Principal FPGA Engineer

RTX•Huntsville, AL
•$132,400 - $251,600•Onsite

About The Position

The Effector Guidance Electronics department develops electronics for weapon system products and is responsible for the architecture, design, and documentation of deliverable FPGA embedded processing. The Senior Principal FPGA Engineer leads FPGA design development across major vendors and device families, including AMD/Xilinx, Altera, and Microchip. Designs support applications such as gigabit serial interfaces, RF and EO digital signal processing, controls, data links, embedded processing, and processor interfaces. The engineer works with circuit card designers and systems engineers on requirements development, architecture, algorithm modeling, partitioning, coding, simulation, and place and route. Designs are verified against requirements using directed and constrained-random test methods. The role provides design support from requirements definition through integration, test, and production release, and includes documentation and configuration management. The position is based onsite in Huntsville, Alabama, and qualifies for relocation assistance. An active existing DoD Secret clearance is required after day one; U.S. citizenship is required to obtain and maintain a clearance.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and at least 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience architecting FPGA-based systems to determine parts and interfaces.
  • At least 10 years of experience in at least 7 of the listed areas: digital design and HDL coding for configurable logic devices; delivery of FPGA solutions for system-level applications; use of one or more Altera, Lattice, Microchip, or AMD FPGA device families and associated tools; integration and debug of electronics using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, or similar equipment; FPGA timing constraints and timing closure; digital simulation with Questa, RivieraPro, or similar tools; industry-standard interfaces and protocols such as AXI, PCIe, SPI, or I2C; Python or C programming; and work with IP cores.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Active and existing DoD Secret clearance required after day one.
