Senior/Principal Analog Engineer

Automation Displays•Rosenberg, TX
•Onsite

About The Position

Martin Company, an Automation Displays company, designs regulated industrial and commercial products and supports them through certification on time and on budget. The company serves product companies across North America with electrical, mechanical, software and industrial engineering, rapid prototyping, and certification services. This is a hands-on analog design role based in Rosenberg, Texas. The engineer personally performs circuit design, schematic capture, PCB layout, bench bring-up, debugging, and characterization rather than directing others to do the work. The role spans custom projects from concept through manufacturing and certification, with opportunities to contribute to the company's expanding capabilities and market reach. The position is primarily office-based, with occasional customer and vendor visits and occasional travel to the parent company in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or a closely related engineering degree.
  • 15 or more years of electrical engineering experience, primarily focused on analog design.
  • Active Texas Professional Engineer (PE) license, or an active PE license in another U.S. state with Texas licensure obtained within 12 months of hire.
  • Expert, current proficiency with Altium Designer, including high-quality schematics, multilayer PCB layouts, and manufacturing outputs such as fabrication and assembly drawings, Gerber/ODB++, BOMs, and pick-and-place files.
  • Strong EMC/EMI knowledge applied to PCB design, including grounding, stackup, partitioning, and layout for emissions and immunity.
  • Proficiency in circuit simulation using Altium, LTspice, or another mainstream simulation tool.
  • Broad hands-on analog design experience, from precision low-noise signal chains to power electronics, including high-dynamic-range and high-CMRR sensor inputs, active and passive filters, low-distortion audio-grade circuits, low- and high-voltage power supplies, motor drivers, and low- to high-power output stages.
  • Experience with battery-powered and low-power design.
  • Experience designing at both discrete-component and integrated-circuit levels.
  • Experience with microcontroller-based hardware design, including MCU selection, pin and peripheral allocation, clock, reset, power and programming/debug interfaces, and ADCs, DACs, references, and PWM.
  • Strong understanding of component-level effects on circuit performance, including capacitor dielectric behavior, parasitics, tolerances, and noise.
  • Sound component selection skills that balance performance, cost, availability, and lifecycle/obsolescence.
  • Excellent communication skills with engineering teams, customers, and vendors.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree.
  • Experience with motor-control methods such as classic PWM speed control, Field-Oriented Control (FOC), PID, and Active Disturbance Rejection Control (ADRC).
  • RF design experience.
  • Product certification experience, such as FCC, CE, or UL/IEC.
  • Embedded firmware experience; firmware is not a responsibility of the role, but familiarity is helpful when partnering with firmware engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Personally perform circuit design, schematic capture, PCB layout, bench bring-up, debugging, and characterization.
  • Design analog circuits across a broad range of applications, including precision signal conditioning, power conversion and drive, and battery-powered and low-power systems.
  • Produce schematics, multilayer PCB layouts, and complete manufacturing outputs using Altium Designer.
  • Design microcontroller-based hardware, including MCU selection, pin and peripheral allocation, clock, reset, power and programming/debug interfaces, and analog-to-digital interfaces.
  • Select components while balancing performance, cost, availability, lifecycle, and obsolescence considerations.
  • Communicate and collaborate with engineering teams, customers, and vendors.
  • Contribute to custom projects through manufacturing and certification.
